In a stunning development with sweeping geopolitical and prophetic implications, Israel has just signed the largest natural gas export agreement in its history—a $35 billion deal to supply gas to Egypt through the year 2040. The gas will be pumped from the massive Leviathan field, located off Israel’s Mediterranean coast, and will play a central role in reshaping the regional energy balance, fortifying Egypt’s struggling economy, and positioning Israel as a critical energy superpower in the Middle East.
The deal, announced Thursday by NewMed Energy, one of Leviathan’s key partners, is seen as a lifeline to Egypt, which has been burning through billions of dollars importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) as its own domestic supplies fall short. Unlike LNG, which must be super-cooled into liquid form for international transport, the Leviathan gas will be delivered through pipelines—cutting costs dramatically and deepening long-term economic ties between Israel and Egypt.
NewMed CEO Yossi Abu didn’t hold back, telling Reuters, “It’s much, much, much, much better, like dramatically better, than any LNG alternative, and it will save billions of dollars to the Egyptian economy.”
For Israel, this deal isn’t just about profit. It’s about prophecy. The Leviathan field, aptly named, holds an estimated 600 billion cubic meters of reserves, and has long been viewed by energy analysts and Bible scholars alike as more than just a resource—but a symbol of Israel’s rising prominence in the last days. The fact that the field resumed operations following the brief but explosive 12-day war with Iran in June only highlights its role as a strategic asset in both war and peace.
During that short war, which saw missiles flying between Iranian proxies and Israeli defense systems across multiple fronts, gas exports were halted for security reasons. But now, with calm temporarily restored, the flow of energy—and revenue—has resumed.
The gas agreement marks a bold new phase in Israel-Egypt relations, but also ties directly into a broader prophetic scenario. Egypt, often symbolized in scripture as a nation God uses to reveal larger truths, is now literally dependent on Israel for fuel, light, and heat. This shift in energy dependency could mark a turning point in regional influence as Israel steps into a role that mirrors ancient Joseph’s position in Egypt during famine—a provider of vital resources in a time of crisis.
But there are deeper layers. This deal arrives as Europe remains unstable, Iran continues its nuclear ambitions, and the Abraham Accords nations quietly align behind closed doors. The Leviathan field—sitting between conflict zones, underwater espionage threats, and critical infrastructure—is no longer just a commercial project. It’s a battlefield, a bargaining chip, and a prophetic accelerant.
Whether Egypt will remain a stable partner or whether this deal will be used by elites to fold Egypt deeper into a future regional alliance remains to be seen. What is certain is this: energy flows are becoming the arteries of the Beast system, and whoever controls the gas, controls the nations.
For now, the Leviathan field roars, and Egypt listens.
