With talks on Iran’s nuclear program resuming in April of this year and ongoing negotiations still underway, the United States remains hopeful that a deal can be reached.
Last Wednesday, President Donald Trump spoke at the White House, where, according to Bloomberg, he “briefly outlined his vision of a deal that is ‘very strong, where we can go in with inspectors. We can take whatever we want. We can blow up whatever we want. But nobody getting killed.’”
“Trump also said he believed a deal with Iran could be completed within ‘the next couple of weeks’ and that talks had made ‘a lot of progress,’” Bloomberg further noted.
Of course, Iran dismissed Trump’s ideas as pure “fantasy.” I think we would all agree that there is no way Iran will allow what Trump has envisioned to happen. Make no mistake, Iran is doing everything possible to get the bomb—even in the midst of these negotiations.
A recent report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stated that Iran has accumulated approximately 408.6 kg of uranium enriched to 60% purity. If further enriched to weapons-grade levels (around 90%), which could take place in quick succession, reports say that they will have enough to produce roughly 10 nuclear bombs.
Additionally, while the United States was engaged in negotiations last month, Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei threatened America and once again called Israel a “cancerous tumor” that must be removed. During his speech, his supporters shouted, “Death to the America! Death to Israel!”
“Certainly, in this region, the source of corruption, war, and conflict is the Zionist regime,” Khamenei asserted. “The Zionist regime, which is the dangerous and lethal cancerous tumor of this region, must undoubtedly be removed, and it will be.”
Unbelievable! And yet, the United States is hopeful for a deal? What kind of deal could you possibly make with this evil, wicked regime? (It is important to note here that the Iranian people are very different from the Iranian regime).
What kind of deal could you possibly make with Tehran? The time to end Iran’s demonic nuclear program for the bomb is now—and we need to be praying for the United States not to be lured into another disastrous nuclear deal like the JCPOA, which was signed by President Obama in 2015. The time to act is now, and Israel is ready to go.
This situation reminds me of what the psalmist wrote in Psalm 120:6-7: “My soul has dwelt too long With one who hates peace. I am for peace; But when I speak, they are for war.”
Iran does not want peace—Israel longs for peace. It should be our prayer for Israel and the Trump Administration to be wise to the schemes of those who wish them dead, who plan crafty counsel against God’s chosen people. That is also what the psalmist wrote in Psalm 83:1-5, and it is helpful to our understanding of how to pray: “Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, And do not be still, O God! For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head. They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. They have said, ‘Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.’ For they have consulted together with one consent; They form a confederacy against You.”
Verse 13-18 continues, “O my God, make them like the whirling dust, Like the chaff before the wind! As the fire burns the woods, And as the flame sets the mountains on fire, So pursue them with Your tempest, And frighten them with Your storm. Fill their faces with shame, That they may seek Your name, O Lord. Let them be confounded and dismayed forever; Yes, let them be put to shame and perish, That they may know that You, whose name alone is the Lord, Are the Most High over all the earth.”
Let’s continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Let’s continue to pray for the Jewish people. Let’s continue to pray for the United States to be bold and to stand against this evil regime in Iran. Maybe the Iranian regime, if they see the power of the Lord, will think twice about coming against God’s chosen people. I am praying as Asaph did that they would learn that the name of the Lord is most high, and He alone is most high over all the earth.
