Restoring Yom Teruah: What You May Not Know about Rosh HaShanah

Last week, Israelis began excitedly preparing for Rosh HaShanah, the secular Jewish New Year. As you may know, Israel observes two main new years. According to Exodus 12:2, the new year which God gave us starts in the spring. The secular or civil new year is celebrated the first day of the seventh month (“Tishrei”).

Rosh HaShana literally means “Head of the Year.” The holiday falls this year on September 20-22. It is traditionally celebrated with liturgical worship, merry greetings and gatherings, gift giving, and sounding the shofar. A hearty consumption of apples and honey symbolizes hopes for a sweet new year. Prophetic words about the upcoming year (which will be 5778) now add to the mix, as more and more Christians celebrate this special day.

It is good that Gentile followers of Messiah are engaging in the biblically Hebraic roots of our faith. We Messianic Jews encourage your authentic celebration of the feasts. What you may not know, however, is that some of the most critical, biblical aspects of Rosh HaShana are overlooked by many Jews and Christians due to a focus on extra-biblical traditions. Restoring the purity of God’s appointed day in your celebration could bring even greater blessing to you, others—and Him.

What are some ways we can restore the foundations of this week’s feast known as Rosh Hashanah? First, Rosh HaShanah as the Jewish new year is not a biblical feast. It is not mentioned or even directly referenced in the Scriptures. The feast that is commanded on what has been popularized as Rosh HaShanah is actually the Day of Blasting Trumpets (Numbers 29:1) or according to Leviticus 23:24, Memorial of Trumpet Blasting. The Hebrew name for the day is Yom Teruah.

There is reason to believe Rosh HaShanah was likely observed by the ancient Israelites. It developed as a major holiday during the Jewish exile in Babylon in order to accommodate the pagan culture in which Israel had become immersed. Eventually it overshadowed any national emphasis on the new year God actually designated for His people, which is the first day of the first month, called “Nissan.” Unfortunately, Rosh HaShanah also eroded much of the significance of Yom Teruah. This is reflected in the fact Yom Teruah is the only feast rarely called by its biblical name.  So to start, to help restore the pure essence and meaning of the day, Rosh HaShanah ought rightly be called, and observed as, Yom Teruah.

One rationale for the replacement of Yom Teruah with Rosh HaShanah, and resulting new year focus, is the rabbinic belief that Yom Teruah marks either the creation of the world, or of Adam and Eve, or both. (Believing in both could impact the meaning of seven “days” of creation.) This is based partly on a complex, mystical word play on the first word of Scripture, “bereishit.” In any case, I believe we would do best to call the day as God calls it, namely, a day to sound trumpets:

“On the first day of the seventh month, hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. It is a day for you to sound the trumpets. As an aroma pleasing to the Lord, prepare a burnt offering….a grain offering… [and other offerings] by fire…” (Numbers 29:1-6, NIV)

“On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a Shabbat [Sabbath] rest, a memorial of blowing [shofars], a holy convocation. You are to do no regular work and you are to present an offering made by fire to Adonai.” (Leviticus 23:23-25, TLV)

According to the Scriptures, God wants us to honor what we call Rosh HaShanah as a Sabbath. Instead of our usual daily work, we are to gather in holy assembly with His people. He instructs us to make temple offerings and sacrifice, but thankfully, the atonement of Yeshua fulfills this command. In Yeshua, we are to approach Yom Teruah (and everyday) with a spirit of sacrificial surrender: “In view of God’s mercy, offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.” (Romans 12:1) Perhaps most importantly, the Scriptures say God wants us blasting trumpets loudly and repeatedly throughout the day. According to tradition, the shofar was (and is) sounded in Israel 100 times.

Understanding certain Hebrew nuances of the name Yom Teruah can help us grasp deeper realities of the day. The Hebrew word which is translated “sound trumpets” or “blow trumpets” in Numbers 29 and Leviticus 23 is teruah. According to Strong’s Concordance, the Hebrew root for teruah means (1) to disfigure or shatter by breaking; (2) to split ears by loud noise, such as by shouting for joy, sounding an alarm or intense crying; and (3) loud destruction or triumph. Based on the root meanings teruah, Yom Teruah can be translated as a day of loud clamor or noise, loud acclamations of joy, piercingly loud alarms, shattering battle cries and jubilee. This is significant!

Collectively, the Hebrew meanings of teruah describe Kingdom breakthrough. Not just humankind, but the earth and spirit realms may be affected by the ear-piercing cries, wails and triumphant declarations and decrees released this day through the shofar. One (admittedly exra-biblical) possibility is that heaven’s shofars are sounded over the earth realm on Yom Teruah. As we come into agreement with the declarations and decrees of YHVH by likewise blowing trumpets, His Kingdom on earth is released in greater measure.

When Yom Teruah was divinely instituted, the Israelites would have associated shofar blasting with their first and only direct, national encounter with YHVH. The literally heaven and earth shaking encounter took place at Mount Sinai. After a great and mighty shofar blast, God gave His people the gift of His holy Law. (Exodus 19:13, 16-19; 20: 18). Therefore, to the ancient Israelites, Yom Teruah would have served as a memorial—but also reaffirmation or renewal—of divine covenant: “If you obey Me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. … The people all responded together, “We will do everything the Lord has said.” (Exodus 19: 5, 8) If you, too, are in covenant relationship with God, Yom Teruah can be a special day to remember and reaffirm or renew covenant as the shofar blasts.

Before long, trumpets were associated in Israel with other key events. They were used to call sacred assemblies. They sounded military battle cries to which God promised to respond: “When you go into battle … sound a blast … then you will be remembered by the Lord your God and rescued from your enemies.” (Numbers 10:1-10) If you assemble (with or without others) before God this Yom Teruah, or are engaged in battle (and who isn’t?) why not ask Him to apply trumpet blast victory to your situation?

A final primary purpose of trumpets was to declare the coronation of a king or anointing of a high priest.  (1 Kings 1:34; 39, 2 Kings 9:13; 11:12-14, 2 Samuel 15:10) Therefore, on Yom Teruah, observant Jews still declare the kingship of YHVH over creation. Yom Teruah is also an ideal time to declare Yeshua as King and High Priest over your life, your nation, Israel and all the earth.

With Yeshua as its focus, Yom Teruah is not just a memorial or new year celebration. It can serve as a prophetic act of intercession, worship, repentance and re-alignment with YHVH. It is also a form of spiritual warfare. “Dream” with me, for a moment. What might possibly happen if on Yom Teruah, Holy Spirit filled shofar blasting resounded across Israel and the nations? What Kingdom breakthroughs could transpire if His people around the world gathered in their respective nations, in unity by the Spirit, and sounded trumpets for a day to affirm covenant with YHVH, declare Yeshua’s kingship, and posture themselves for Kingdom advance?

In addition to all the above, Yom Teruah is a prophetic foreshadow of Messiah’s return and resurrection of the dead. When Yeshua comes to earth, heaven’s trumpets will sound loudly. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, 1 Corinthians 15:52, Matthew 24:30-31) Some believe that on a future Yom Teruah, followers of Yeshua will be caught up in the air to meet Him. Others say Yom Teruah is the day on which He will physically return to judge humankind. Still others say both could take place simultaneously.

Observant Jews who do not believe in Yeshua (and some who do) have traditionally regarded Yom Teruah as a day of judgment. It is said that heaven contains books in which every person’s words and deeds are recorded. There are also books of life and death, and all are opened on Yom Teruah.  On Yom Teruah, God carefully reviews the books. Some rabbis believe satan is given access to heaven’s court on Yom Teruah. There he stands and accuses humankind, proverbially throwing the book at us. God hears satan’s case, then gives us ten days to repent of our sin. Ten days later He closes the books and seals our destiny for the upcoming year. The day of sealed or final judgment is known as Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement. (Leviticus 23:26)

Such a scenario could well foreshadow the end of this age. After followers of Yeshua are caught up to join Him in the marriage supper of the Lamb, those remaining will have ten days, so to speak, to turn to God before they are judged. If this is so, the trumpet call this Yom Teruah offers an ideal time to praise God for the gift of forgiveness of sin, and to pray for the salvation of others. He desires that none perish, but that all gain everlasting life. Pray especially for Israel’s salvation as our people gather in synagogues this Yom Teruah, read His Word, and leave hoping to be inscribed in God’s book of life.

Yom Teruah is a day to hear, and then do, what the Spirit is saying through the shofar. It is a day to engage with fresh revelation of and from God. It is a day to celebrate a fresh start—and new year, if you will. I encourage you to eat the scroll that is trumpeted on Yom Teruah, and then, feel free to enjoy your apples and honey, too! The significance of the shofar blast

In a few days, we will be celebrating the Feast of Trumpets and Jews along with a growing number of Christians will gathered together to observe this Biblical Holy Day. There will be special services and time devoted to repentance and introspection, but the focal point of the day will be when the shofar is sounded. This simple trumpet made from an animal’s horn produces a sound that connects eternity to eternity. The traditional blasting of the shofar one hundred times is both exciting and empowering to the hearer. This powerful sound, which is of such great importance that it was commanded by G-D to be heard by the Children of Israel, has an even greater importance. It is one that is often missed by those who have consistently gathered year after year to hear the sound so as to fulfill the commandment.

For the majority of those who will gather in synagogues to hear the shofar, the purpose of the sound is to mark the opening of the doors of repentance for the period of time between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur. These ten days are known as the “Days of Awe.” But, there is an even greater meaning given for the shofar sounding, one that reminds us that repentance isn’t the end of the story for those who love G-D. While the shofar does remind us of the open door for repentance, its purpose is not only to lead us to our knees in repentance.

This greater purpose for the sounding of the shofar has been lost to some extent because the use of the shofar in Judaism has throughout the years become limited to the sounding on Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur (and in some places on Rosh Chodesh). However, the shofar was used  to proclaim the coronation of a King, as well as its use in warfare to direct the army. It is these two uses that have been lost to most people, and as such, Rosh Hashanah has become a time only for sorrow and repentance, when its purpose was not singular in ancient times.

On Rosh HaShanah, a prayer called Avinu Malkeinu (Our Father Our King) is recited. Yet, His Kingship is relegated only to the His ability to forgive His people. He is much more than a forgiver; He is a redeemer and deliverer. He is strong in mighty and strong in battle. This shofar blast is not simply to call us to repentance. It is to remind us of why we are called to repentance. It is a reminder of what comes after repentance: victory.

To better understand the shofar blast, think back to those wonderful old westerns, the movies in which the hero has been surrounded by the enemy and all looks hopeless. Then, softly in the distance, you hear the sound of a bugle. As moments pass, the bugle gets louder and with it you hear the sound of many horses riding at full gallop. With each blast of the horn, the defeat is driven out of the heart of those surrounded and it is replaced with hope. Defeat is swallowed up by victory. This, in essence, is what the sound of the shofar should do for those hearing it. Each year we gather, realizing that by depending on our own power and abilities, we have been surrounded by the enemy of our soul. But then, the shofar sounds and we realize the King is coming with His army to bring total victory against our enemy. Every year when the shofar blasts on Rosh HaShanah, our hearts are reminded that with every year that passes, the King riding upon His white horse is getting closer and closer and one day soon we will hear the Great Shofar sound and the enemy will be vanquished. Rosh HaShanah is not intended to remind us of our defeats; it is intended to keep us watching for His deliverance as we are set free. (Click to Site)

Defining the New Moon

March 10, 2017

This article is to fine tune the coming week of September 23rd. Does the Feast of Trumpets occur on September 21st, two days before the Sign of the Woman or does the Feast of Trumpets coincide with the Sign of the Woman on September 23rd? According to Paul, the Rapture of the Church will occur at the Last Trump on the Feast of Trumpets at the time of the new moon. So when is the new moon?

The observed calendar that Israel follows at this time is the one developed by Hillel II in the 4th century. Under Hillel’s calendar there is no sighting of the moon–it is calculated and corresponds to the “dark moon” as the new moon. However, there is also Jewish tradition that speaks of observing the first sliver of the moon–

when it first becomes visible to the naked eye. So when we are trying to determine when the new moon is, we are faced with the decision of what calendar is most representative of the explanations in Scripture. What we will soon find out though is there are not many Bible passages that define the new moon! Yet, if we limit our understanding to them, our view should be correct.

The Feast of Trumpets is the only festival day on the new moon. When we find the applicable passages, it only says to observe the feast on the new moon. There is no description readily available of how that is determined in the context. There are no explanations of sighting procedures like that given in Jewish tradition, but let us see only what the Bible has revealed and whether or not it supports that tradition.

Concerning the Feast of Trumpets:

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall you have a Sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.   –Leviticus 23:24

And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work. For you it is a day of blowing the trumpets.  –Numbers 29:1

Surprisingly, the Bible simply states to blow the trumpet on the first day of the month with no further instructions on the new moon. Any tradition of sighting the crescent moon is not to be found in the Scriptures. It comes down to two passages that shed light on the new moon and the principle one is Psalm 81:3. However, there are English translation issues as can be seen below.

Blow the trumpet at the time of the New Moon, at the full moon, on our solemn feast day.   –Psalms 81:3 NKJV

Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.   –Psalms 81:3 KJV

Here the KJV is better, but it is still lacking in the proper definition. The Hebrew word in question is kece which is from the root kacah, which means concealmentKece is used twice in the Bible (Psalm 81:3, Proverbs 7:20) as appointed in the KJV and NKJV with the exception being the full moon in Psalm 81:3 in the NKJV. All other modern translations have kece reading as the full moon. The full moon is not a possible translation as the new month begins with the new moon. The root kacah is found translated in the KJV as: cover (135x), hide (6x), conceal (4x), covering (2x), overwhelmed (2x), clad (1x), closed (1x), clothed (1x). This is why the Feast of Trumpets was known to the Jews as the Day of our Concealment and why the Jewish Bible is correct here in its rendering of Psalm 81:3 (It is verse 4 in the Jewish Bible).

Sound the shofar to mark the new month, the time of concealment of our Festival day.  –Psalm 81:4 Jewish Bible

A concealed moon would then be the hidden moon. According to Scripture the new moon is when it is not seen. This seems to contradict the tradition of looking for the first observable crescent, for if we declare the moon visible it is no longer concealed! With the Feast of Trumpets being known by tradition as “the day no one knows the day of hour,” that description of the day fits the concealed moon model, otherwise, if that day is by sight, that day would be known. A concealed moon makes sense of modern Israel’s observance of the feast for two days to ensure that they have not selected the wrong day to cover their bases.

Another story that sheds light on this is that of David and Jonathan.

And David said to Jonathan, “Indeed tomorrow is the New Moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king to eat. But let me go, that I may hide in the field until the third day at evening.” –1 Samuel 20:5

Here David knows that the next day is the day of the new moon. If the new moon was to be declared by sight, then it wasn’t declared that way here because David knows beforehand. This is because the day declared by tradition of sighting the sliver would begin at sundown when the day actually begins, but here David knows beforehand. This would suggest the current method of the calendar by Hillel II is more in line with Scripture. Maybe there are no biblical new moon sightings in Scripture because the new moon is not to be visible!

Another problem by shifting the new moon from the current day of concealment to one where the first sliver is observed is that it shifts the whole calendar by one or two days. The first of the month decided by first seeing the crescent moon places the observable full moon before the feasts that occur on the 15th of the month. The blood moons on Passover and Tabernacles would not have occurred on those respective feast days. This would be a problem and there would be more problems by shifting the calendar. To the day coincidences under the Hillel II calendar with the 9th of Av 1095 (the first Crusade), the 9th of Av 1290 (England expels Jews), the 9thof Av 1492 (Spanish Inquisition), the 9th of Av 1914 (WW1), Hanukkah 1917 (Jerusalem), Passover 1933 (Hitler’s Jewish laws passed), the 9th of Av 1942 (Warsaw Ghetto deportations), Yom Kippur 1973 (the War), 9th of Av 1994 (Comet Shoemaker-Levy strikes Jupiter & Hezbollah bombing AIMA in Buenos Aires), and Trumpets 2008 (stock market crash) have all coincided using the observed Jewish calendar that calculates the new concealed moonUnder a visible crescent system, those to-the-day coincidences would be lost.

Therefore, based on the evidence from the Bible and historical events alone, the current observed calendar of Israel looks to be the correct model. This then leads to the following conclusions about the week that ends on the seventh day of the week–September 23, 2017.

September 20–Wednesday: At dawn at Giza there is the alignment of Regulus-Venus at the Christ Angle above the horizon in the
east. This is the Sign of the Great Pyramid.  About two hours after this alignment, the moon will reach conjunction.

September 21–Thursday: The new moon and Feast of Trumpets according to the observed calendar.
This day of the concealed moon looks to be the day of our concealment and hiding. The day of the Harpazo/Rapture
of the Church to the throne of God to be one complete ruling body with the Man-Child. This happens before the labor
of the Tribulation.

September 22–Friday: The Autumn Equinox. The potential first day without the Restrainer. All who were righteous through
believing in the work of Jesus Christ are gone and the unrighteous will now be unhindered for forming what they think will be their utopia.

September 23–Saturday: The Sabbath of Return. The Sign of the Woman in Revelation 12:1-2 fulfilled in heaven.
The woman is pictured in pain to deliver a child. This is a sign for Israel and Israel will now be the torch bearer with the Church body gone. With the disappearance of the righteous on the Feast of Trumpets and this sign, Israel will begin their return to  Jesus the Messiah.  From this day it is 2,576 days to the Day of Atonement 2024 on October 12th. Counting 2,520 inclusive days from November 19, 2017 will land on October 12, 2024–the Day of Atonement. 2,550 days (1290 days from the mid-point) will come to November 11, 2024 and 2,595 days (1335 days from the mid-point) will come
December 26, 2024 and Hanukkah. From September 23rd to what appears to be the beginning of the Tribulation would be 8 weeks. It was also 8 weeks from the end of the “69 weeks” of Daniel on Palm Sunday until the Conception of the Church (thanks to Scott Clarke) on Pentecost Sunday.

This is the layout according to this author of the coming week of anticipation.  It is understood here that many who espouse the Sign of the Woman in Revelation 12 hold to a different view on how to place the events associated with this sign. The reality is that we all have put the events within a few days of each other. Whatever happens, we will all be paying attention to each of the days and remaining alert. While this author at this time does not see how we can make it past this coming week in September, we must be prepared for whatever may come.  Our faith should hold and remain firm in the clear teaching of the Bible and act accordingly.

Blood Moons, Births, And Babies

NR7O_2017-09-04-2200_Smoke-Blood Moon.jpg

Just last week people from all over the United States were photographing unexpected “blood moons”.  Many of these were caused by the smoke from record wildfires across the Pacific Northwest.  I was stunned by these photographs because the moon looks a lot more like the color of blood then do typical lunar eclipses.  All of the below photographs were taken on Labor Day, September 4th, less than three weeks before the Revelation 12 Sign depicts a woman in labor.

Washington State:

Another picture from the Pacific Northwest:

A Chicago neighborhood:

Downtown Chicago:

Videos from all over the United States and Canada are showing up on YouTube showing this completely unexpected blood moon: AlabamaArizonaBritish ColumbiaCaliforniaColoradoIllinoisMissouriOhioOregonTexasWashington.  A prophecy in Joel, which is echoed in Acts 2, comes instantly to mind:

And I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke.  The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.

According to this prophecy the order of events is: 1. The sun is turned to darkness, 2. The moon is turned to blood, and 3. The Day of the LORD comes.  For awhile I thought that this prophecy might have been fulfilled by the March 20, 2015 total solar eclipse, which was followed six months later by a total lunar eclipse on the Feast of Tabernacles.  The order of events was right.  Both eclipses occurred during a supermoon, and the lunar eclipse was visible right over Jerusalem.  However, maybe what has just transpired over the past several weeks is a better candidate.

The Day of the LORD is a time demarcated by God when He will judge all Gentile nations.  On August 21st the Great American Eclipse crossed over the entire United States – the most powerful and influential Gentile nation on earth, which is home to more Christians than any other country.  Then just 14 days later an unexpected blood moon appeared over a large portion of that same country.  Again, the order of events is right, but this time they are in much closer proximity and only weeks before the Revelation 12 Sign.

Now consider the first part of Joel’s prophecy: “…blood and fire and columns of smoke.”  This unexpected blood moon was caused by massive wildfires that produced columns of smoke which scattered various colors in the atmosphere, but left red intact.  The moon turned red because of columns of smoke.

This red moon was seen over most of the contiguous United States and Earth Science even had a detailed discussion about it.  Smoke from the Pacific Northwest fires spread over the whole country and parts of Canada.  The map below shows how far the smoke traveled and thus who would have seen a blood moon:

The map clearly explains the various reports – as you can see, they were all in areas covered in smoke (Washington, Oregon, Montana, Missouri, Illinois, North Texas, etc).  The person who took the following photograph in Chicago reported that the moon remained red for six hours, three times longer than the longest possible lunar eclipse:

What’s more – Zero Hedge reported yesterday that many major wildfires had broken out in a number of other countries including Canada, Greece, Portugal, Russia, Brazil, Tunisia, Algeria, and Greenland.  In the aforementioned Earth Sky article, readers reported a blood moon in Germany on the 31st of August, four days earlier, so no doubt many people in other countries saw this, as well.

Putting these pieces together, we may have what is a much more accurate fulfillment of the Joel 2 prophecy:

August 21st: The sun turned to darkness during the Great American Eclipse, which was the most watched solar eclipse in human history and broadcast all over the world.

August 31st – September 9th: Blood and fire and columns of smoke… the moon turned to blood.

September 23rd or soon after: The Day of the LORD?

Keep in mind that we are about to witness the Great Sign of a woman in labor giving birth to a male child who will rule the nations with a rod of iron.  The same day that Hurricane Harvey made landfall near Corpus Christi (Latin for “The Body of Christ”), a woman named Irma gave birth to a male child named Harvey at Corpus Christi Medical Center.  Harvey means “blazing iron”.  Hurricane Irma struck the Caribbean just days later.  Here is baby Harvey:
A week after Harvey hit, pictures of a pregnant woman covered in bees went viral.  People Magazineinterviewed the woman who was covered in 20,000 bees:
Barry Scarbrough reports that beekeepers in a number of places across the country are vexed because their hives are not preparing for Winter.  The bees are literally waiting and beekeepers can’t explain what they are waiting for.

Remember that Wonder Woman was released in theaters just a few months ago, on June 2, 2017, featuring Israeli actress Gal Gadot in the lead role.  She happened to be pregnant during filming.  Revelation 12:1-2describes a wonder in Heaven, a sign portraying the woman Israel giving birth to a child.
We are waiting for the miraculous birth of a corporate male child who will rule all the nations with a rod of iron.  This child is raptured to Heaven (Rev. 12:5) and hidden away (Is. 26:17-21).  The prophet Isaiah said this birth would happen before the Tribulation (Is. 66:7-8).  Now take a look at a passage in Zephaniah that has recently come to light:

The great day of the Lord is near,
near and hastening fast;

the sound of the day of the Lord is bitter;
the mighty man cries aloud there.
A day of wrath is that day,
a day of distress and anguish,
a day of ruin and devastation,
a day of darkness and gloom,
a day of clouds and thick darkness,
a day of trumpet blast and battle cry
against the fortified cities
and against the lofty battlements.

I will bring distress on mankind,
so that they shall walk like the blind,
because they have sinned against the Lord;
their blood shall be poured out like dust,
and their flesh like dung.
Neither their silver nor their gold
shall be able to deliver them
on the day of the wrath of the Lord.
In the fire of his jealousy,
all the earth shall be consumed;
for a full and sudden end
he will make of all the inhabitants of the earth.

Gather together, yes, gather,
O shameless nation,
before the decree takes effect
—[before] the day passes away like chaff—
before there comes upon you
the burning anger of the Lord,
before there comes upon you
the day of the anger of the Lord.
Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land,
who do his just commands;
seek righteousness; seek humility;
perhaps you may be hidden
on the day of the anger of the Lord.

The immediate context of this passage is the future Day of the LORD and the cataclysmic global judgment God will bring on all mankind.  In Zephaniah 2:2 we see a threefold repetition of the Hebrew word terem, which means before.  This comports perfectly with Isaiah 66:7 where a corporate male child is born before Israel goes into labor.  And what happens before the Day of the LORD?  A nation is gathered together (Zeph. 2:1) – further paralleling Isaiah 66:7-8.  In the Hebrew the Scripture says this nation is what was “not a nation”.  This might therefore be further exposition on a prophecy in Deuteronomy 32:21 that Jeff expounded upon, which says God would make the Jews jealous by taking Gentiles – a nation “who are not a people”.  Deuteronomy 32:21 will be read by Jews all over the world on September 23rd.

Most importantly, according to Zephaniah 2:1-3, this group who seeks righteousness are gathered together before a certain decree takes effect (the 7-year covenant of Daniel 9:27?) and are hidden away before “the day of the anger of the Lord.”

These ancient Old Testament prophecies are coming to light like never before and they seem to be painting an increasingly pre-trib picture.

And another interesting “coincidence” for you to consider:  The Trump family has just welcomed the 9th Trump grandchild into the world just 9 days before the Feast of Trumpets.  It’s a boy whom they’ve named Luke, and at the moment he is quite literally the last Trump.

The Signs Continue: Part 2

Following up on our recent post from last week about some incredible signs that continue to point to and confirm how close we are to the Day of the LORD, I thought it necessary to share with you that the signs are only increasing, but the world continues to sleep, in large part because a number of shepherds in the Church have mocked, ignored, and suppressed the truth.  Indeed, Jesus is coming like a thief in the night to the world and perhaps most of the Church (1 Thess. 5:2-3) because of willful ignorance, but He is not coming like a thief for us (Matt. 24:431 Thess. 5:4Rev. 3:3).  Sit up straight, buckle your seat belt, and pay attention.

A Review

In just over two weeks the Great Sign described in Revelation 12:1-2 will seemingly appear over Israel.  There is reason to believe this sign points to or is connected with the rapture (see here and here), but we leave open the possibility the sign precedes the rapture by some number of days or weeks.  It would make perfect sense for the rapture to occur this month, but if it doesn’t happen, I will still fervently believe the alignment is the Great Sign of Revelation 12 and the Church will need to remain in permanent-watch-overdrive.

The sign happens to occur on or one day after the Feast of Trumpets, which I and many others believe is the most likely of the seven Feasts of the LORD to be fulfilled by the rapture of the Church.  In the very year this incredible alignment occurs on the Feast of Trumpets, the strangest election in political history led to the inauguration of Trump + Pence.  On top of that, this year has seen an altogether unprecedented convergence of the number of completion and perfection, the number most used in Revelation: 7.

Donald Trump was born 700 days before Israel was reborn and was 777 days old, 77 days after Israel’s rebirth. Trump won the election by exactly 77 electoral votes. He was 70 years, 7 months, and 7 days old on Inauguration Day. His Inauguration ended the 57th presidential term and began the 58th term in the same year that the Hebrew calendar transitions from 5777 to 5778 on the Feast of Trumpets.

Mike Pence was born 8 years to the day before Jerusalem was returned to Israel and was 57 years old in Hebrew year 5777, but turned 58 on the 50th Gregorian anniversary of the Jerusalem conquest.

7 days after November 7th (Election Eve) was the largest Supermoon in 70 years.

Trump’s campaign manager and current advisor Kellyanne Conway was born in 1967 – the year Jerusalem was recaptured.

In January, 2017, Chau Smith became the first person to run 7 marathons on 7 continents in just 7 days. She was 70 years old.

The French election this year was held on 5/7/17 on the 7th day of the week.

Vladimir Putin was exactly 777 months old on 7/7/17.

Noah’s father Lamech lived 777 years and died 5 years before the Flood (7775) – an inversion of the current Hebrew year (5777) – like bookends!

Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, who I think will be at the helm of Israel during the rapture, is currently 67 years old and was 67 years old when Jerusalem celebrated its 50th anniversary on 6/7/2017.

Netanyahu was born on the 7 + 7 + 7th day of October in the 7 x 7th year of the 20th century (1949) and graduated high school in 1967 and graduated from MIT in 1977.

From Netanyahu’s first day in office to Trump’s election was 7 years, 7 months, and 7 days; from his first day in office to Election Eve was 2777 days.

When Pigeon Forge burned and the Joel 2 passage proclaiming the Day of the LORD was at hand was discovered was 57 days before the first day of Hebrew year 5777.

If all of these “coincidental” numbers are too much for you, that’s fine.  We can agree to disagree on their significance, but as for me, I believe God is sovereign over the smallest details and did not create a meaningless universe.

On top of all that, 2017 marks 120 years since the First Zionist Congress, 100 years since the Balfour Declaration and the capture of Jerusalem by the British, 70 years since the U.N. mandate establishing a Jewish state, 70 prophetic years of 360-days each since Israel’s rebirth in 1948, 50 years since the conquest of Jerusalem, 40 years since the beginning of the modern Middle East peace process, and 30 years since the founding of The Temple Institute.  It’s also the only year in recent memory where the International Day of Peace, the Feast of Trumpets, and the autumnal equinox all line up.  This is also the only year where the official motto of Peace Day includes both “peace” and “safety” (1 Thess. 5:3).  The Revelation 12 Sign aside, there has never been a year with this much convergence – it’s simply overwhelming.

Then there are all the signs in the heavens.  It was discovered that the Blood Moon Tetrad of 2014-2015 was pointing to this month all along, but this was hidden in plain sight and no one noticed until recently.  Then the Great American Eclipse occurred – an event that was filled with significance and meaning.  It started in the 33rd U.S. state, ended at the 33rd parallel, took 1 hour and 33 minutes to cross the U.S., occurred on the 233rd day of the year, was 133 days before 2018, and happened 33 days before the Revelation 12 Sign.

The Signs Continue, But The World (And Church) Sleeps

Last week I wrote about how Hurricane Harvey was packed with meaning:

Harvey, a Category 4 hurricane, made landfall exactly 4 days after the Great American Eclipse and 4 weeks before the Feast of Trumpets, or, on the Jewish calendar, exactly 4 weeks before the Revelation 12 Sign featuring a woman with 12 stars on her head who symbolizes the 12 tribes of Israel. The storm was the most powerful hurricane to make landfall in 12 years and brought with it 12-foot storm surges.

The hurricane struck between Corpus Christi, which is Latin for “The Body of Christ”, and Victoria, which is Latin for “Victory”. Harvey means “Blazing Iron”. Citizens of Corpus were told to evacuate and many heeded the warning (the Body of Christ was evacuated). In Revelation 12:5we discover that the victorious Body of Christ will rule the nations with a rod of iron (see also Rev. 2:26-27) after evacuating earth to a place of safety as a ferocious dragon tries unsuccessfully to devour them (see herehere, and here).

Then I shared with you footage from Jinan, China showing what some on Chinese social media were calling “a door into heaven” (think Rev. 4:1):

Events are now speeding up:

Houston – The fourth largest city in the U.S. was hit by the worst flooding in the city’s history.

Chicago – The third largest city in the U.S. is nearing 500 murders so far in 2017, the most murders in any U.S. city, and possibly on track for the highest number of murders in the city’s history.

Los Angeles – The second largest city in the U.S. just experienced the largest wildfire in the city’s history.

New York – The largest city in the U.S. is weeks away from hosting the International Day of Peace (1 Thess. 5:3).

Following on the heels of Hurricane Harvey, Irma is now a Category 5 storm and on track to pummel the Caribbean and then hit the U.S.  The NHC just confirmed that it is the most powerful hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic basin.  If it hits the U.S. as a Category 4 or 5 it will be the first time in 102 years that two Category 4+ hurricanes struck the U.S. in the same year.  Remember that no major hurricane had struck the U.S. in nearly 12 years until Harvey hit last month.  The last major hurricane to make landfall was Wilma in 2005 and all of a sudden two major hurricanes come storming through.  Right behind Irma is another cyclone – Tropical Storm Jose, which looks like it might take a similar path as Irma.  If it also hit the U.S. it would likely be unprecedented in American history.

The current earthquake swarm over the Yellowstone Supervolcano continues, with the quake count nearing 2,400.  This is now one of the largest swarms since records began, only outpaced by a 1985 swarm and the Idaho State Journal has quoted experts saying it might lead to a 7.0 earthquake.

Outside of the U.S., strange trumpet sounds were heard in the sky over Budapest, Hungary on August 23rd:

Then more trumpet sounds in Astara, Iran on August 28th:

Massive flooding continues to wreak havoc in India, Bangladesh, and Nepal in what experts are calling the worst monsoon in decades.  The death toll has now risen to nearly 1,300.  The graphic below shows the current extent of flooding (in blue):

To add fuel to the fire, news broke that North Korea had successfully tested its first H-bomb, a nuclear weapon far more powerful than crude A-bombs.  They also released the following image showing what appears to be successful miniaturization for fitting to the nose of an ICBM.  Then it was reported today that North Korea had transported an ICBM to its west coast under cover of darkness.  The situation continues to spiral towards war.

The world’s house of cards is being shaken.  It won’t take much for it to come crashing down.  My guess is that the Restrainer is the only one holding this all together and he is about to be taken out of the way (2 Thess. 2:6-8).  My suggestion to you is to get right with the One pulling the strings and then keep watch.

The Cautious Watcher

The Prophecy Watchers have been on heightened alert for the last 20 years but history did not start when we came to conscientiousness!

In 1998, I had a conversation with my then 78-year-old grandmother about the pending global catastrophe of Y2K.  We were at my father’s (a fellow Watcher) kitchen table and we were going over our preparations.  My grandmother was a spirit-filled, godly woman, but she had about her the pragmatism and practicality that had carried her through near-starvation during the Great Depression and the long years of waiting for her husband to return home from World War II.  As my dad and I enthused over all the biblical signs and prophecies, we laid out the case for her about why we believed the turn of the millennium was going to kick off the long-awaited chain of events that were going to see us going home soon.  She listened graciously.  She then said in an off hand manner, “During and after World War II, when Israel became a nation we were certain the Rapture was imminent.  Just be cautious.”

I remember being initially irritated with her.  I was excited!  I wanted to GO!

For generations, we have read the Scriptures, we have watched the heavens, we have deduced the times.  We have correctly identified thousands of significant prophetic events, compelling numerical distances between dates, extrapolated Hebraic meanings from those numeric dates, and concluded that we are indeed living in the last days, but it is worth noting that at least a dozen times in the last 2000 years the Church has had compelling reasons to believe THEY were also in the last days.  Doug Woodward does an amazing job of outlining the 1666 Rapture Frenzy.  These were not Middle Age superstitious imbeciles, Isaac Newton wrote about the subject.

With the publication of The Harbinger, the discovery of the blood moons and their historical significance, and the availability of free Stellarium software the Watcher community has been on heightened alert since 2008.  As the book of Daniel has been opened, our understanding of the Scriptures of the End Times has multiplied at a breakneck speed, the Holy Spirit has poured out the anointing on His Servants far and wide.

An example of this is the knowledge of the fulfilled Spring Feasts at the first coming of the Lord Jesus.  Those of us who have been at it for awhile take that revelation for granted these days but I have to stress that a mere seven years ago even the most ardent and learned of Watchers was unaware of this amazing fact.  I was blown away in 2013 by the Rosh Hashanah Rapture Theory. Where Is The Dragon?

We’ve received many comments and emails from readers asking us what we think about the dragon and whether its seeming absence causes a problem with the Revelation 12 Sign.  Personally, identifying the dragon in the sky has never been a concern for me.  My study of Revelation 12 and other supporting Scriptures has led me to believe we shouldn’t expect to see anything, at least in the near-term.  I’m not dogmatic about this and if a mysterious “Planet X” soon shows up then, well, more power to those looking for Nibiru, but from my perspective it is unlikely that Revelation 12:3-4 will manifest as an actual alignment of planets and stars.

There is no mention of the Sun or Moon in verses 3 or 4 as there is in Revelation 12:1-2 and stars are directly connected to the alignment of the Great Sign in verses 1 and 2, whereas they are not necessarily part of the sign of the dragon itself.  And the only celestial objects mentioned (stars) are actually cast to the earth (even one actual star being cast to the earth would consume the whole planet instantly).  The dragon is satan and the stars falling to earth are his accompanying angels which are thrown down to the earth (Rev. 12:9; see also Rev. 1:20).  Thus Revelation 12:7-9 directly parallels Revelation 12:3-4 and provides a clear explanation for Revelation 12:3-4 within the passage itself.

When considering the chronology of events in the book of Revelation I think we sometimes get too caught up in a very linear mindset, but Scripture is not purely linear.  God’s Word is multi-dimensional and full of intricate patterns and connections.  Revelation pulls most heavily from the book of Isaiah yet Isaiah is not completely chronological.  It does have a beginning and ending, but it weaves in and out.  For example, Isaiah 26-27 is primarily about end time events including the resurrection of the dead, but many chapters later we see a detailed account of Jesus’ death and resurrection (Isaiah 53).  Another example can be found in Genesis where the first chapter extends over the entire Creation Week, but the second chapter rewinds and expounds upon the details of the sixth day of Creation.  Remember that the original biblical manuscripts had no chapter numbers, verses, or even punctuation marks.  You didn’t read God’s Word by flipping pages, one after another, but by unrolling a scroll.
The book of Revelation has one of the clearest chiastic structures in the entire Bible and at the heart of it all are the events in Revelation 12, thus it is my belief that what triggers the rest of the events in Revelation is when the Church goes up (Rev. 12:5) and the devil comes down (Rev. 12:12): (Click to Site)
