Obama Appoints UFO Disclosure Advocate Into Administration: Signs of Something To Come?

John Podesta was recently appointed as councillor to Barack Obama. The 64 year old former chief of staff to the Clinton administration will be dipping into matters that range from energy, to food safety and border enforcement, and who knows, possibly UFO disclosure?  According to the Washington Post, Podesta is “one of the Democratic Party’s most seasoned political and policy operatives.”  He is also the founder of the Center for American Progress (CAP), a leading democratic public policy organization. Many people are starting to believe that democrats and republicans are just two wings of the same bird, and that the flight path doesn’t change. I echo this belief, but this appointment did gain my attention given the fact that John Podesta is an advocate for UFO disclosure.

In 2002, Podesta spoke at a news conference held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., where he urged the U.S. government to declassify UFO documents that are more than 25 years old.

I’m skeptical about many things, including the notion that government always knows best, and that the people can’t be trusted with the truth. The time to pull the curtain back on this subject is long overdue. We have statements from the most credible sources – those in a position to know – about a fascinating phenomenon, the nature of which is yet to be determined.” – John Podesta (taken from Leslie Kean’s 2010 New York Times bestseller, “UFOs: Generals, Pilots, And Government Officials Go On The Record,” where Podesta wrote the forward)

I think it’s time to open the books, on questions that have remained in the dark on the question of government investigations of UFOs, it’s time to find out what the truth really is that’s out there. We ought to do it because it’s right, we ought to do it because the American people, and people around the world quite frankly can handle the truth, and we ought to do it because it’s the law.”- John Podesta (Taken from the video below)

“It is time for the government to declassify records that are more than 25 years old, and to provide scientists with data that will assist in determining the real nature of this phenomenon”. – Johan Podesta (3)

The conference below was organized by the Coalition for Freedom of Information. Last month, TIME magazine listed five topics that Podesta and Obama haven’t agreed on. These include drone secrecy, NSA spying, Afghanistan, the American Political System ,and UFOs.

Podesta brings up some interesting facts from the quotes above. One of them being that we have statements from the most credible sources, those in a position to ‘know’. He is referring to generals, pilots, more high ranking political/military personnel , scientists and more.  Not long ago, Former Canadian Minister of National Defense, Paul Hellyer said that there are “at least 4 known alien species that have been visiting Earth for thousands of years.” This is one statement from hundreds upon hundreds of people that have held positions that might be privy to this type of knowledge.

UFO disclosure in the United States might not be far away, dozens of governments all over the world have already admitted to the UFO phenomenon being real. They’ve admitted to tracking them on radar, and scrambling jets to check them out. For example, here is a batch of files pertaining to the UK government’s involvement in UFO investigations. Here is a batch of documents that were declassified by the NSA.

I would also like to point out that if the Obama administration were to disclose this information, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are telling the truth. Manipulation of perception regarding real events has been a common theme throughout history, war is one example. The real story behind the phenomenon is usually something other than what we’ve been told by corporate media. We don’t need the ones “we appointed” to be our source for information, each and every individual is capable of doing it themselves. It doesn’t hurt to do a little critical thinking every now and then.  At the same time, individuals within the ‘elitist,’ realm might be going through their own little awakening, throwing judgement at something is never the correct thing to do, and some that play within the game of politics and government might want to see full transparency of information.

There are thousands of interesting, declassified documents out there in the public domain, and you can bet that there are even more that remain classified. Here is a video from Richard Dolan giving a very brief, quick introduction to the UFO cover-up for those of you who are new to the subject.

Choice of Ending Addiction – 12 Steps or Jesus Christ

Just a question to those who would like to get off drugs & alcohol permanently and turn back from Addiction. Which choice is the best, 12 Steps or the Word of God? Compare the two below.

What does the hopeless 12 Steps teaches:

“Admit that you are powerless” over your problem, and that your life has become “unmanageable”.
“Come to believe” that only “A Power greater than yourself” (God) can save you — “restore you to sanity.”
Surrender your will and your life to the control of the group’s old-timers and ‘God’ as you misunderstand Him.
Perform a “searching and fearless moral inventory” to find and list all of your “defects of character” and “moral shortcomings”, and then confess the “exact nature of your wrongs” to your sponsor and to God.
Ask God to perform soul surgery on you, and fix you, by removing all of your “defects of character” and “moral shortcomings”.
Make amends to all whom you have harmed.
Repeat the above steps endlessly, for the rest of your life, and always promptly admit when you are wrong.
“Seek, through prayer and meditation, to make conscious contact with God.” That is, conduct a séance where you sit quietly and listen for the Voice of God to talk to you and dictate your work orders to you. Pray for the power to carry out those orders. Go do whatever the voices in your head tell you to do. (That is not a joke.)
Claim that you have gotten a “spiritual experience” or a “spiritual awakening” from doing the previous eleven steps. “Carry the message” to anyone else who will listen — make religious converts out of everyone else that you can — and somehow practice the above so-called “principles” in all of your affairs.

This is what the 12 Step Program is based on…  A higher power that is helpless to help you.

Here’s God’s way of healing addiction permanently…no steps…no sponsors…no disease theories to keep you in bondage:

But if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say, “We have no sin,” we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say, “We don’t have any sin,” we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.  1John 1:7-10

Jesus stooped down and started writing on the ground with His finger. When they persisted in questioning Him, He stood up and said to them, “The one without sin among you should be the first to throw a stone at her. ”Then He stooped down again and continued writing on the ground. When they heard this, they left one by one, starting with the older men. Only He was left, with the woman in the center. When Jesus stood up, He said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” “No one, Lord,” she answered. “Neither do I condemn you,” said Jesus. “Go, and from now on do not sin anymore.”  Then Jesus spoke to them again: “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows Me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.”  John 8:6-12

He will again have compassion on us; He will vanquish our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.
Micah 7:19

Seeing their faith, Jesus told the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” But some of the scribes were sitting there, thinking to themselves: “Why does He speak like this? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?” Right away Jesus understood in His spirit that they were thinking like this within themselves and said to them, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts? Which is easier: to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up, pick up your mat, and walk’? But so you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” He told the paralytic, “I tell you: get up, pick up your mat, and go home.”  Mark 2:5-11

So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own town. Just then some men brought to Him a paralytic lying on a mat. Seeing their faith, Jesus told the paralytic, “Have courage, son, your sins are forgiven.” At this, some of the scribes said among themselves, “He’s blaspheming!” But perceiving their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why are you thinking evil things in your hearts? For which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? But so you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—then He told the paralytic, “Get up, pick up your mat, and go home.” And he got up and went home. When the crowds saw this, they were awestruck and gave glory to God who had given such authority to men.

Our Daily Bread — An Ordinary Day – January 25, 2014

Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. —Matthew 24:42

While exploring a museum exhibit titled “A Day in Pompeii,” I was struck by the repeated theme that August 24, ad 79 began as an ordinary day. People were going about their daily business in homes, markets, and at the port of this prosperous Roman town of 20,000 people. At8 a.m., a series of small emissions were seen coming from nearby Mount Vesuvius, followed by a violent eruption in the afternoon. In less than 24 hours, Pompeii and many of its people lay buried under a thick layer of volcanic ash. Unexpected.

Jesus told His followers that He would return on a day when people were going about their business, sharing meals, and having weddings, with no idea of what was about to happen. “As the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be” (Matt. 24:37).

The Lord’s purpose was to urge the disciples to be watchful and prepared: “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect” (v.44).

What surprising joy it would be to welcome our Savior on this ordinary day! —David McCasland

Faithful and true would He find us here,
If He should come today?
Watching in gladness and not in fear,
If He should come today?
Watch for the time is drawing nigh,
What if it were today? —Morris

Perhaps today!

“Rules Unto Others” – Mishpatim (Rulings) – TorahScope – JANUARY 24, 2014 –

Mishpatim (Rulings)

Exodus 21:1-24:18
Jeremiah 34:8-22; 33:25-26

“Rules Unto Others”

As we turn to Mishpatim this week, we are reminded that the Israelites have just received the Ten Commandments and have heard the terrifying voice of the Lord as He shook Mount Sinai. We recall that the Israelites were so frightened by the sound of God’s voice, that they requested that Moses be their exclusive intermediary to receive the further instructions about how to conduct their lives. As they trembled at a distance, the fear was so great that they thought they would die if they had to continue to hear the voice of the Almighty:

“And all the people perceived the thunder and the lightning flashes and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood at a distance. Then they said to Moses, ‘Speak to us yourself and we will listen; but let not God speak to us, lest we die’”(Exodus 20:18-19).

Apparently, the presence of God was so awesome that the Ancient Israelites relinquished their individual rights to hear Him directly, by choosing Moses to be their intermediary. In this capacity, Moses received instructions about how men and women should conduct their lives with respect toward one another. At the end of Mishpatim, we see the commitment of the Israelites to keep the commandments that Moses delivered to them:

““Then he took the book of the covenant and read it in the hearing of the people; and they said, ‘All that the Lord has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient!’ So Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people, and said, ‘Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words’” (Exodus 24:7-8).

In many ways, as you read Mishpatim and its listing of rules, ordinances, and judgments—the thought comes to mind that these practical instructions are quite consistent with what we often call “the Golden Rule,” treating others as we would have them treat us (Matthew 7:12; Luke 6:31). Examining Mishpatimgives us the annual opportunity to rethink many of the basic instructions on how we should treat others, when human interaction creates inevitable conflict.

Interestingly, the first rulings that Moses focused on relate to the treatment of slaves (Exodus 21:2-11). Here, the Ancient Israelites, having just been freed from the bondage of slavery in Egypt, are given specific instructions about how to lovingly handle the relationship between a slaveholder and slave. Hopefully, with memories ripe with remembrance of this condition, they will be able to relate to people confined to this humble station in life. The Holy One definitely communicated grand attributes of compassion and lovingkindness to all members of humanity, no matter what their relationship might be one to another.

A New Creature

The instructions in our parashah relate to a variety of interactions that typically occur in any society, especially given the fallen state of man. We are reminded that in spite of us being created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27; James 3:9), we have inherited a sin nature from Adam (Romans 5:12).Because we are fallen creatures, we require redemption. The nature that we have all inherited in Adam must be replaced by a redeemed nature only available through the salvation of the Messiah Yeshua. Once a person can understand who he or she is in Adam, confessing and repenting of sin, and dying to oneself—then and only then will you be able to receive the new nature provided as the Ruach HaKodesh or Holy Spirit takes up residence inside of you.You are finally able to be born again! You become a new creature in the Messiah, just as the Apostle Paul describes to the Corinthians:

“Therefore if anyone is in Messiah, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Messiah and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Messiah reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Messiah, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Messiah, be reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:17-21).

To many of you this may sound very basic, but if you will recall, even the exemplary Torah teacher and Pharisee Nicodemus did not understand some of these foundational concepts. For whatever reason, Nicodemus could not comprehend the concept of being “born again,” even though he was considered a leader among his people:

“Yeshua answered and said to him, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.’ Nicodemus said to Him, ‘How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?’ Yeshua answered, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I said to you, “You must be born again.” The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.’ Nicodemus said to Him, ‘How can these things be?’ Yeshua answered and said to him, ‘Are you the teacher of Israel and do not understand these things?’” (John 3:9-10).

Many of us are familiar with this passage from the Gospels, and yet have we ever considered the thought that even the foundational teachings of the Torah are frequently not understood by its teachers? It has long been recognized in Biblical Studies that being “born again” or “born from above” was used in Second Temple Judaism to describe proselytes. The Talmud records, “R. Yosé says, ‘A proselyte at the moment of conversion is like a new-born baby’” (b.Yevamot 48b). Yeshua the Messiah simply took the terminology “born again,” and rather than apply it to proselytes to Judaism—applied it to His followers. This might not always be obvious to some of you, so think about whether the Torah teacher you listen to on a regular basis is really familiar with its basic instructions regarding holiness and proper living.

It is critical for us to consistently turn to Moses’ Teaching in order to learn more and more about our human condition and how we should conduct ourselves. The main reason that the Torah exists is to help define sin for humanity, and regulate the behavior that the Lord expects His people to demonstrate in the world.

We must each be thankful for the opportunity to be reckoned as the sons and daughters of the Living God, via our adoption in Yeshua. But for whatever reasons, we frequently need to be reminded of our responsibilities, even after we have inherited new life in the Messiah. Paul comments about the awesomeness of Believers’ adoption into God’s family in his letter to the Romans:

“For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, ‘Abba! Father!’ The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Messiah, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body”(Romans 8:15-23).

Just as Paul writes, we as Believers in Yeshua do not walk in a spirit of slavery, but instead in a spirit of adoption as children of the Most High. Hallelujah for His mercy to us! Yet, we each eagerly await the complete redemption of Creation, including our total selves at the resurrection. But, let us now turn to the Torah portion and see what our Father wants us to consider, as once again His Instruction communicates basic life principles to His sons and daughters.

Civil Laws

As you read through Mishpatim, you are reminded of some of the basic instructions about how we should treat one another when the inevitable problems of human interaction occur. We see detailed, various ordinances about personal injuries (Exodus 21:12-36), property rights (Exodus 22:1-15), sundry laws (Exodus 22:16-23:9), as well as the stipulations to keep the Sabbath (Exodus 23:10-13) and observe the three festivals of ingathering (Exodus 23:14-18). The basic yardstick of instruction is essentially “the Golden Rule.” When God’s people face challenges today, these various instructions surely articulate and inform us on how He would have conflicts resolved.

Interestingly, as you read these rulings, you will note that a tenor of fairness, equality, and compassion seems to permeate the statements. If the Spirit of God resides inside of you, then when you read these various ordinances, the Spirit should bear witness that the remedies and treatments for various violations of conduct seem perfectly equitable. Over many centuries, these very statements have been incorporated into the civil laws of societies influenced by the Judeo-Christian values established in Holy Writ. This is not to say that all of these laws are reiterated exactly, but that the essence is certainly there in our Western judicial system. (Even pagan societies that do not acknowledge the God of Israel have benefited from the Torah’s moral message.)

The difference between when these commands were originally given to Israel and today is that we live in a post-resurrection era that has made the understanding of these rulings much clearer, through the teachings of Yeshua and His Apostles. We do not stone children for striking or cursing their parents, because Yeshua has atoned for this penalty (cf. Colossians 2:14). However, when you encounter statements that speak of capital punishment, you realize how important God considers adherence to the commandment regarding how parents should be honored (Exodus 21:17).

When you couple these kinds of statements with other reiterations about: keeping the Sabbath, the appointed times, the first-born offerings, not bearing false witness, properly treating the poor, widows, orphans, speaking out about leaders, lending money, etc., you begin to realize that at times throughout your life you have probably not followed these rulings too well. You have probably broken all the rules. As a result of breaking these rules, you are therefore guilty and need to pay restitution. Some of the restitution principles are articulated in this parashah, but when you are completely honest with yourself, you begin to realize that you have probably not paid the price perfectly for your various transgressions.

The Almighty God Himself is most aware of each and every transgression we have committed. He knows the when, where, and to what degree each of us has sinned. He knows that each person is indeed bankrupt in trespasses and sins. Eventually, in spite of our various mortal attempts to keep all of these commandments, especially coupled with the remaining instructions that are seen throughout the Bible, one should hopefully come to the logical conclusion that he or she cannot possibly avoid the penalties that ultimately lead to death and eternal separation from God. If you really think through all of these things seriously, the final conclusion would be not too unlike what many cried out to the Apostles at various times: Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” (Acts 16:33). An inability to keep God’s Law is to show us the need for a Savior (cf. Galatians 3:24; Romans 10:4, Grk.).

Yeshua’s Upgrade

Yeshua came to Earth and was sacrificed at Golgotha (Calvary), paying the penalty for our sins and offering a permanent atonement. But long before being executed, He spent time with His Disciples and others, trying to help them understand some of the basic principles of His Father’s Instruction. Yeshua’s teachings bring a great depth and dimension to what we are constantly learning in the Torah—some of you for the first time. Many of the things Yeshua says are almost impossible for a person who has nothing more than a natural, fleshly mind. As the Apostle Paul reminds us, a natural person is incapable of receiving things from the Spirit:

“But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he will instruct Him [Isaiah 40:13]? But we have the mind of Messiah” (1 Corinthians 2:14-16).

Consequently, we have a great number of people throughout the ages who have attempted to understand and comment about the teachings of Yeshua and the Apostles—with many now trying to understand the Torah. Unfortunately, many have not dealt with the reality about coming to the end of themselves and being born again from above, in order to have the spiritual capacity to even understand the basic teachings of the Bible. This, you can imagine, can create a tremendous amount of confusion, as one will be most prone to misunderstand the essentials of salvation, holiness, and accomplishing God’s mission for His Creation.

When one reads the words of Yeshua, and His clarification about and/or elaboration upon the Torah principles that are seen in a reading like Mishpatim, many are befuddled. Consider the instruction that deals with the loss of an eye or a tooth (Exodus 21:24, 27). Read how Yeshua applies this in His Sermon on the Mount:

“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth’ [Exodus 21:24; Leviticus 24:20; Deuteronomy 19:21]. But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also” (Matthew 5:38-39).

In Mishpatim, some commandments are given about how one is supposed to be compensated for the loss of an eye or a tooth, or whatever else has been lost. Some of these circumstances will arise due to fallen human nature. Out of anger or passion, a person might strike someone and cause an eye or a tooth to be lost, and so the Torah issues instruction on how restitution is to be made. But Yeshua remarks about the spiritual causes of such a loss. The natural inclination when injured is to injure back, but the Messiah instead directs people to receive another blow and turn the other check. If love for one’s fellow human beings is imperative, what is going to convict a person who has lost his temper and control of his emotions more? The perfect restitution for the infraction, or a response out of love that indicates how physical harm can ultimately do little damage? As Yeshua continues in this particular passage, He expresses the meaning of true love established by the Torah:

“If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat also. Whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you. You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor [Leviticus 19:18] and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on therighteous and the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Matthew 5:40-48).

Yeshua tells those in His audience to give up shirts, walk extra miles, give freely, love their enemies, and pray for those who persecute. Why? Because then and only then will you be “sons of your Father who is in heaven.” He concludes with the stellar requirement that one is to be perfect, just as the Father in Heaven is perfect. Yeshua knows this is impossible for human beings to attain in their own strength, and yet He clearly declares it as a requirement for following Him. Following Yeshua’s teachings are virtually impossible without the Holy Spirit and His atoning work covering our lives. The status of being excellent in the Lord, much less perfect—requires total commitment, steady spiritual refinement, and consistent discipleship in maturity.

We have much to consider this week as we reflect on the ordinances and precepts that God has established for His people. May we hold fast to those rules, so just like the Israelites in the wilderness, we too can claim what the ancients claimed:

“He took the Book of the Covenant and read it in earshot of the people, and they said, ‘Everything that Hashem has said, we will do and we will obey!’Moses took the blood and threw it upon the people, and he said, ‘Behold the blood of the covenant that Hashem sealed with you concerning all these matters’” (Exodus 24:7-8, ATS).

Today, as Believers in Yeshua, we can experience the fullness of the things that the ancients only heard about. While Moses only sprinkled animal blood on the people, the author of Hebrews testifies that the blood of Yeshua Himself inaugurates the New Covenant—where the commandments of God are to be written upon our hearts and we can have great confidence to go to the Father:

“Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Yeshua, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water” (Hebrews 10:19-22).

We should not only have a new heart of flesh (Ezekiel 36:25-27), washed by the blood of the Messiah—but we should also have our hearts and minds made clean, eagerly able to perform God’s service. May we all be blessed in this understanding as we consider His rules, and live them out as a testimony of what He has done for us!

IN YOUR ARMS OF LOVE – by Claude Houde – David Wilkerson Today – SATURDAY, JANUARY 25, 2014

IN YOUR ARMS OF LOVE
by Claude Houde

My last memory of my dear friend Pastor Bernard Sigouin here on earth is this
magnificent moment as he stood with his hands lifted to the heavens singing:

I sing a simple song of love
To my Savior, to my Jesus.
I’m grateful for the things You’ve done,
My loving Savior, my precious Jesus.

My heart is glad that You’ve called me Your own.
There’s no place I’d rather be than

In Your arms of love,
In Your arms of love.
Holding me still, holding me near,
In Your arms of love.

This is how Pastor Bernard left this earth to join his Father. With words of
praise on his lips and the joy of having faithfully served God until the end,
he found himself in the loving arms of the One to whom he had entrusted his
entire life with unshakable faith. As he fell to the floor, right there in the
church to which he had dedicated his entire life, I was reminded of the verse,
“Absent from the body, present with the Lord” (see 2 Corinthians 5:8).

It was a privilege for me to share the Word at his funeral. Loved ones, family,
pastors, leaders and Bible school students gathered to honor his memory and to
celebrate his faith and his life. I shared a Bible text with the packed
audience, a passage of Scripture calling us to this faith that never quits:
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is
faithful. . . . So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly
rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you
will receive what He has promised. For in just a very little while, He who is
coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith.
And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him. But we are not of those
who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved”
(Hebrews 10:23, 35-39).

May a new generation be inspired to lay hold of this flaming torch, the
absolute conviction that without faith it is impossible to possess! May the
light of your faith illuminate the cold and dark night of unbelief, giving hope
and direction to all those around you who have lost their way, for whom to
believe again is a matter of life and death!

Pastor Saeed Abedini Transferred Out of Murderer Ward, But Health Problems Worsen

U.S. pastor Saeed Abedini has been transferred from the murderer ward to the political prisoner ward in Rajai Shahr Prison in Iran, but his health problems are continuing to worsen and he needs surgery.

“Make no mistake. Pastor Saeed is still in the deadliest prison in Iran facing deteriorating medical conditions. This is the first positive step, however slight, since his transfer from Evin Prison last November,” the American Center for Law and Justice, which represents Abedini’s wife, Naghmeh and their two children in the U.S., revealed on Wednesday.

This was also the first time Abedini’s Iranian family has been allowed to visit him in six weeks. And although he will now receive slightly better treatment, including better meals, his family has said that his numerous medical problems continue to worsen, and he is still throwing up and suffering from pain in his abdomen.

“Since being moved within the prison, Pastor Saeed was able to see a prison doctor who was very concerned about his internal injuries. The prison doctor recommended that he receive surgery and provided him medication to ease his pain,” ACLJ described. There is still no word from the Iranian officials on whether he will be allowed such a surgery.

The U.S. citizen has been held captive in Iran since July 2012, when he was arrested while working on an orphanage project. He has been accused by Iranian officials of endangering national security and was later sentenced to eight years in prison, though the ACLJ and Naghmeh Abedini have argued that the punishment has more to do with his Christian faith.

“There is a glimmer of comfort to know that my husband has been transferred out of the murderers’ ward, but my heart aches to know the pain he continually suffers and that his injuries necessitate surgery. As a family, it is difficult to be so far away and unable to comfort him in his pain,” Naghmeh Abedini said in a statement about the latest development.

“Though we are encouraged by the transfer to the new ward, such a small step is far from an unconditional release where Saeed is reunited with our family. While this development is welcomed, we desperately await his return home.”
The wife of the U.S. pastor has been actively campaigning for his release. She also planned to risk arrest at a prayer event by the White House to raise awareness for her husband’s case but the ACLJ revealed on Tuesday that she is reconsidering her participation.

The ACLJ continues to advocate on the pastor’s behalf and is urging people around the world to sign a petition that will encourage the U.S. government to impose harsh sanctions on Iran until it releases Abedini. The law group says that such sanctions might be the best available bargaining point for the pastor’s freedom. Over 66,000 people have signed the petition to date, while another 202,321 others have written letters to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

Ibiza holiday jet in near miss with UFO over Reading

A Thomas Cook airliner flying holidaymakers home from Ibiza to Manchester passes “within feet” of a UFO

Any pilot flying holidaymakers between Manchester and Ibiza must be prepared for outlandish sights.

But perhaps nothing so apparently unworldly as this.

The captain of a Thomas Cook airliner flying tourists back from the Spanish holiday island to the north of England reported a “near miss” with a “rugby ball”-shaped UFO, which passed within feet of his jet.

The encounter, over Reading, Berks, was reported to the aviation authorities, who launched an investigation. But no earthly identity for the object could be established.

The encounter was disclosed earlier this month by the Telegraph, following the publication of a report into the inquiry. The document did not identify the aircraft involved.

However, following an analysis of flight data recorded on the internet, the Telegraph has established it was a Thomas Cook plane, with the flight number TCX24HX. It was an A320, with the registration G-KKAZ, which was made in 2003.

The jet was flying to Manchester International airport, from Ibiza, on July 19th 2013. For years, the island has enjoyed a hedonistic reputation, attracting thousands of tourists each summer, many attracted to its vibrant nightlife. In recent years, it has attracted an increasingly upmarket clientele, among them David and Samantha Cameron.

The aircraft was flying at 516mph, at an altitude of 34,000ft, when it was passed by the UFO.

The encounter occurred in daylight, at around 6.35pm. It only emerged following publication of the report, which concluded it was “not possible to trace the object or determine the likely cause of the sighting”.

The captain said he spotted the object travelling towards the jet out of a left hand side, cockpit window, apparently heading directly for it. He said there was no time to for the aircrew to take evasive action.

He told investigators he was certain the object was going to crash into his aircraft and ducked as it headed towards him.

The incident was investigated by the UK Airprox Board, which studies “near misses” involving aircraft in British airspace.

The report states: “(The captain) was under the apprehension that they were on collision course with no time to react. His immediate reaction was to duck to the right and reach over to alert the FO (First Officer); there was no time to talk to alert him.”

It adds: “The Captain was fully expecting to experience some kind of impact with a conflicting aircraft.”

He told investigators he believes the object passes “within a few feet” above the jet.

He described it as being “cigar/rugby ball like” in shape, bright silver and apparently “metallic” in construction.

Once it had passed, the captain checked the aircraft’s instruments and contacted air traffic controllers to report the incident. However, there was no sign of the mystery craft.

As part of the inquiry, data recordings were checked to establish what other aircraft were in the area at the time. However, all were eliminated. The investigation also ruled out meteorological balloons, after checking none were released in the vicinity. Toy balloons were also discounted, as they are not large enough to reach such heights. Military radar operators were contacted but were unable to trace the reported object.

A spokesman for Thomas Cook Airlines said, “All our pilots are trained and required to report any unexpected events that occur during the flight to the aviation authorities.”

The Ministry of Defence closed its UFO desk in December 2009, along with its hotline for reporting such sightings. Following that change, the Civil Aviation Authority took the decision that it would continue to look into such reports, from aircrew and air traffic controllers, because they could have implications for “flight safety”.

In 2012, the head of the National Air Traffic Control Services admitted staff detected around one unexplained flying object every month

They Saw God – Torah Commentary – Mishpatim – “Judgments” – January 24, 2014

Exodus 21:1-24:18

Matthew 5:38-42;Acts 23:1-11
Hebrews 9:15-22; 10:28-39

They Saw God

Waters parting, pillars of fire, water from rocks and food from the heavens.  It doesn’t seem that it could get any better than this!  Try to imagine just one more time what it must have been like to be one of the Hebrews.  Imagine the excitement in your spirit and the conversations around the campfires at night as folks recall all they have experienced over the past year or so.  I am sure that at times it all seemed like a dream to them, one they could not believe they were honored to live out.

As the Hebrews continue their journey a mountain comes to view in the distance.  Though it may look like all the other mountains around, there is something special about this one.  Little did they know just how special it would be and how the experiences of the next stop of the journey would define their lives, not only in their generation, but also for centuries to come.  It would be on this mountain that their lives and the lives of all who would come into the family of the Hebrews would be defined as different from all other peoples.  They never imagined the events of this mountain would cause them to be hated, shunned and even put to death in generations to come.

Mount Sinai would become a mountain of covenant, a mountain of marriage for the Hebrews.  It would be on this mountain that the God of their forefathers would take them to be His for all eternity.

The ceremony would begin with the killing of an animal.  Its blood would be poured upon the altar of marriage.  This blood would look back to the sin of their father Adam and forward to their full redemption in Messiah.  The terms of the marriage, the Torah, would be read to the people as an invitation to individually and as a community accept the wonders of this event.  We read the words of the Hebrews as they accept by saying, “We will do and obey.”  I wonder just how many boxes of Kleenex it took to get through that wedding?

With the setting painted before you; read slowly and carefully the words of Exodus 24:9-11.  No, that was too fast.  Read it again.  Moses, the elders and the leaders were invited to the reception which followed the ceremony.  We are not told why all the people were not invited.  That is a mystery I have yet to discover.  The scripture states that these men were called to go up the mountain and there they saw God.  Try for a moment to wrap your mind around the last three words of the last sentence, “they saw God.”  They saw through the floor of the throne room of heaven, and there they saw their Creator.

In the Renewed Covenant it states that no man has seen God and lived.  Is there a contradiction between the words of Torah and the words of the Renewed Covenant?  I think not.  These men on Mount Sinai did not see the fullness of YHVH on that day, but rather they saw the person of Yeshua, the Manifested One.  They saw the same Yeshua the disciples would see centuries in the future.  They saw the same One you and I call upon today, the same One we long to see return.

I am asked often just how these men and women of old were “saved” in the “Old Testament.”  The words of this Torah portion explain it very well.  They were redeemed on that day the same as you and I are today.  They, as we, are called out of our lives of bondage and slavery.  They, as we, are brought to a place of the blood sacrifice.  They, as we, are brought to a place of covenant, of Ketuba, of a wedding invitation.  They, as we, are then given the choice to say we do and we will obey.  They, as we, are invited to a reception, a feast where we will see Him face to face, and have a meal at a marriage supper to celebrate the event.  They, as we, long for the day when the house is ready, the bride complete and an eternity with Him begins.

For hundreds of years Christianity has taught that the Hebrews in the wilderness just did not have the fullness that we have today.  Did you notice in the readings that the elders were invited to a pre marriage supper of the lamb?  Did you notice that they have already seen Him, talked with Him and have eaten the covenant meal with Him?  Did you notice that these are events you and I are still longing to experience?

Maybe the Hebrews did not miss out.  Maybe in their history, which is recorded in Torah for all to read, we see the wonders of this unspeakable relationship between a people and their God.  We, through them, can begin to understand more clearly the love that burns deep within us for One we know, but have never seen.

THEN WILL THE LORD COME! – by David Wilkerson – David Wilkerson Today – FRIDAY, JANUARY 24, 2014

THEN WILL THE LORD COME!
by David Wilkerson
[May 19, 1931 – April 27, 2011]

Today, the heat of temptation and compromise is many times hotter than it was a
generation ago. For example, Satan has rigged the entire technology of our
age—corrupting it with seduction, sensuality, lust and temptation. Why do we
face such a white-hot furnace of temptation today? Why are lust and sex being
used to sell every conceivable kind of product? Why are there hundreds of porno
websites on the Internet? Who is the target of this flood of filth?

It isn’t the secular world, which has already been seduced. No, Satan’s
target is none of these. Rather, he has manipulated the media to snare the
hearts of overcoming Christians. He wants to weaken and destroy the testimony
of the gospel.

Right now the furnace is being heated seven times over in the lives of many
believers. Satan has created situations in their homes, on their jobs and in
their relationships that are more intense than ever. And many once-strong
Christians are giving up, quitting on God. They no longer pray for help.
Instead, they think, “My trial is too intense for me to survive!”

In Daniel 3, God turned the devil’s scheme into an opportunity to expose the
whole nation of Babylon to His testimony. Because the three young men would not
bow, the Lord delivered them. And they brought to the nation a clear
manifestation of the Lord Jesus Christ!

The king of Babylon testified, “Did not we cast three men bound into the
midst of the fire? . . . Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the
fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of
God” (Daniel 3:24-25).

Quickly the king nullified his first decree of idol worship and issued this new
decree: “Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language,
which speak anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego,
shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because
there is no other God that can deliver after this sort” (verse 29).

Beloved, it all happened because of the testimony of three men—righteous
lovers of God who were willing to lay down their lives in faith.

Yes, things are going to get hot economically, physically, mentally,
spiritually and in every other way. But God has already put His hand on
separated, godly men and women in every place. And His gospel will be preached
as a testimony.

Then the Lord will come!

The Future Of Medicine Is In Devices You Swallow

Instead of going to the doctor for tests, the tests will be inside us.

It sounds like the premise for a futuristic medical thriller: doctors prescribe pills for their patients that double as ingestible sensors, wirelessly reporting back on the body’s vital signs.

A simple version of this already exists: a biotech company called Proteus Digital Health has actually created a primitive version of just such a sensor to track what drugs patients have taken; it was FDA-approved in 2012.

Dubbed the Helius, Proteus’s “smart pill” system consists of a pinhead-sized sensor embedded in a pill, and a battery-powered patch that monitors various health indicators, such as sleep, activity, respiration, and heart rate–kind of like a Fitbit tracker on steroids.

The sensor is powered by the human body, no batteries required. Once it has been swallowed, the device transmits a signal to the patch, indicating the time of ingestion and type of pill swallowed. The patch periodically sends all of its data to a designated smartphone.

Knowing what medication patients swallow and when they swallow it “is one of the most important pieces of information you could possibly have in medical science,” explains Andrew Thompson, CEO of Proteus. Today, doctors don’t have a way to measure exactly how patients respond to medications over time. Having precise data about when patients swallow their pills–and knowing what physiological responses happen as a result–is invaluable.

The current system requires patients to take a placebo pill containing the sensor along with their medication, but Proteus is collaborating with pharmaceutical companies–including Novartis and Otsuka Pharmaceutical (the company behind Abilify, a drug for bipolar disorder, depression, and schizophrenia)–to develop pills that feature both medication and sensors.

The first fully integrated pills are expected to be available in 2014 or 2015. Beyond that, Thompson speculates that Proteus could eventually add the ability to measure core body temperature to its ingestible sensors–another useful data point for doctors and caregivers looking for warning signs that a patient might not be doing well.

Proteus is currently the only company making inroads in the digital pill world. “I think it’s possible there will be other companies that will try to duplicate our technology. Our mission is to enable a whole new way of delivering health services,” says Thompson.
