A political firestorm erupted this weekend after Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene accused President Donald Trump of personally fighting to block the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Speaking on the February 14 episode of the Home of the Brave podcast, Greene claimed Trump “fought the hardest” against transparency and only signed the “Epstein Files Transparency Act” after intense political pressure.
If accurate, the remarks mark one of the most direct public breaks between Greene and Trump since her departure from Congress.

Greene alleged that the push to keep Epstein-related records sealed “came directly from President Trump.”
“He fought the hardest to stop these files from being released,” she stated.
According to Greene, the political backlash became so severe that Trump ultimately signed the transparency legislation under pressure. She called the episode “the biggest political miscalculation in Donald Trump’s career.”
Greene also claimed that Speaker Mike Johnson initially refused to bring the bill to the floor, forcing her and Representatives Thomas Massie, Nancy Mace, and Lauren Boebert to vote alongside Democrats to advance it.
Trump has not publicly responded to Greene’s comments.

Separately, newly reviewed Justice Department records — first reported by CBS News — revealed that longtime Trump ally Thomas Barrack remained in contact with Epstein for years following Epstein’s 2008 conviction.

Barrack later helped raise funds for Trump’s 2016 campaign, led the inaugural committee, and became a regular presence around the White House.
Importantly, there is no evidence Barrack was involved in or aware of any criminal conduct tied to Epstein. The communications appear to reflect personal and business contact during a period when Epstein was attempting to rehabilitate his image among influential figures.
