Newly leaked U.S. military surveillance footage is reigniting global debate over Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAPs), after two videos recorded by American Reaper drones reportedly show objects performing flight maneuvers that defy known physics over active Middle Eastern conflict zones. The footage, obtained and released by veteran investigative journalists George Knapp and Jeremy Corbell, has been officially cataloged within U.S. Intelligence Community investigations as genuine UAP encounters.
Pentagon-Recorded Encounters Over the Persian Gulf and Syria
According to Knapp and Corbell, the first video dates back to August 23, 2012, filmed by a U.S. Air Force MQ-9 Reaper operating over the Persian Gulf. Infrared (FLIR) footage shows three orb-like objects flying in a precise triangular formation, executing abrupt directional changes with no visible propulsion or heat signature — a key marker separating them from known aircraft or drones.
The objects were actively tracked and logged by military systems, with documentation noting “instantaneous acceleration” and apparent intelligent control.
A second video, recorded in 2021 near the Syria–Jordan border, shows a single circular object being tracked by a Reaper drone equipped with a Multi-Spectral Targeting System (MTS-B). According to the footage, the drone established a weapons-quality lock, only for the object to abruptly evade targeting and vanish from the system entirely.
Both encounters fall under the Pentagon’s official UAP designation — terminology still maintained today by the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community.

A Pattern That Keeps Repeating
These newly surfaced clips add to a growing body of military-documented encounters involving orb-shaped objects operating near U.S. troop deployments and civilian airspace. During a September 2025 congressional hearing, Missouri Rep. Eric Burlison revealed footage showing a Hellfire missile striking an orb-shaped object — which continued flying unaffected.
The Department of Defense has not denied the authenticity of the footage, nor has it offered an alternative explanation for the flight characteristics displayed. Analysts remain divided, debating whether the objects represent advanced foreign technology, sensor anomalies, or something beyond conventional aerospace understanding.
The New York Post reported that the Pentagon declined to comment on the latest release, further fueling accusations of selective transparency.

What makes these encounters especially significant is where they are occurring — over some of the most militarized regions on Earth, amid escalating tensions involving Israel, Iran, Syria, and U.S. forces. The persistence of these objects across multiple administrations, multiple theaters, and multiple sensor systems challenges the notion that they are isolated incidents.
