A strange, triangular aircraft — described by observers as sharply “Dorito-shaped” — has once again ignited speculation over what exactly is being tested inside America’s most secretive military airspace. Newly surfaced infrared footage shows the unidentified craft flying directly over Area 51, accompanied by bizarre coded radio chatter that has only deepened the mystery.
The sighting occurred in the early hours of January 14, when off-the-grid explorer and videographer Anders Otteson was documenting the desert near Groom Lake in Nevada. At approximately 3 a.m. local time, Otteson filmed what appeared to be a low-altitude flyover by an aircraft unlike anything officially acknowledged by the U.S. military.

Two Aircraft, One Night
According to Otteson, the unusual flight was not the first activity he observed that night.
Roughly two hours earlier, he had filmed what appeared to be a B-2 Spirit flying overhead — likely transiting from Whiteman Air Force Base. That sighting alone would not be unusual given Area 51’s long history of stealth testing.
But the second aircraft was different.
This craft featured a near-perfect triangular shape, a flat trailing edge, no visible wings, and no conventional navigation lights. Unlike the B-2’s familiar flying-wing profile, the “Dorito” appeared smoother, flatter, and more geometrically precise.
Otteson said the aircraft made a low pass directly over his position before continuing onward, following a flight path consistent with classified military testing.
Strange Radio Codes Raise Eyebrows
Adding another layer of intrigue, a scanner monitoring unencrypted Area 51 radio frequencies reportedly picked up transmissions filled with bizarre code phrases — words more fitting a grocery list than a military operation.
According to fellow researcher Joerg Arnu, personnel were heard using phrases like “pretzel snack,” “Michelob,” “Imperial with garlic,” and “fridge hydrate.” Such language is widely believed to be low-level code masking, designed to obscure real operational details from civilian listeners.
While the coded chatter strongly suggests a man-made aircraft, it also confirms that something classified was underway.
Not the First ‘Dorito’ Sighting
This is far from the first time triangular aircraft have appeared over U.S. skies.
In 2014, photographers Jeff Templin and Steve Douglas independently captured daylight images of nearly identical triangular craft over Wichita, Kansas, and Amarillo, Texas. Those images showed aircraft that did not match any publicly known Air Force platform.
The resemblance between those earlier sightings and Otteson’s thermal footage is striking — suggesting a long-running test program rather than a one-off anomaly.
Some analysts have pointed to conceptual links with the long-canceled A-12 Avenger II, a triangular stealth attack aircraft developed in the late Cold War before being scrapped in the early 1990s. Others speculate the craft may represent a next-generation stealth drone or reconnaissance platform.
Area 51’s Long History of “UFOs”
Area 51’s reputation for UFO sightings is largely a byproduct of secrecy.
For decades, revolutionary aircraft — including the U-2, SR-71 Blackbird, and F-117 Nighthawk — were first mistaken for extraterrestrial objects by civilian observers. Only years later were their true identities revealed.
The Nevada Test and Training Range, which surrounds Area 51, remains one of the most tightly controlled airspaces in the world. If an advanced platform were being flight-tested anywhere, this would be the place.

UFO… or Classified U.S. Tech?
According to the National UFO Reporting Center, there have been dozens of reports worldwide since late 2025 describing triangular objects in the sky — some with flashing lights, others silent and dark.
Yet unlike many UFO reports, the Area 51 Dorito exhibited characteristics consistent with controlled military flight: stable trajectory, repeatable patterns, and encrypted communications.
With the gradual public disclosure of advanced drones and hypersonic systems, the likelihood that such sightings represent extraterrestrial craft has steadily declined. What remains far more plausible is that the U.S. military is testing something far ahead of what the public knows.

Conclusion
Is the Dorito-shaped craft a UFO?
Probably not.
Is it something the Pentagon wants you to know about?
Absolutely not.
The infrared footage, repeated historical sightings, and coded radio traffic all point to a classified U.S. aerospace program operating under deep secrecy. And if history is any guide, whatever flew over Area 51 that night may not be publicly acknowledged for decades — if ever.
For now, the mystery remains airborne over the Nevada desert, just beyond the reach of official explanation.
