A growing body of evidence reveals that America’s most influential evangelical leaders repeatedly praised and platformed former NIH Director Francis Collins while his agency funded some of the most disturbing medical experiments of the modern era. What emerges is not merely a moral failure, but a systemic betrayal of Christian witness — a Faustian bargain in which cultural influence and political access were purchased at the cost of innocent blood.

In August 2009, President Barack Obama appointed Francis Collins to lead the National Institutes of Health. Celebrated by evangelical elites as a “brother in Christ” and intellectual bridge between faith and science, Collins quickly became the face of “respectable Christianity” within the federal scientific establishment. Yet Collins openly defended eugenic abortion, embryonic stem cell research, and the destruction of unborn children for experimentation, describing such practices as something modern society “needs to defend.”

While Collins did not personally perform these procedures, his office authorized, funded, and defended them — making him the chief overseer of the system. Despite this record, leading evangelical figures including Rick Warren, Russell Moore, Tim Keller, Ed Stetzer, and David French repeatedly praised Collins long after these practices were exposed. They hosted him on platforms, described him as a “national treasure,” compared him to the prophet Daniel, and defended his “Christian integrity.” When confronted after journalist Megan Basham’s investigation brought these facts to light, none of them issued corrections, apologies, or retractions.

Prophetic Context
Scripture warns that when shepherds abandon truth for favor with kings, judgment follows. “Her leaders pronounce judgment for a bribe… yet they lean on the Lord saying, ‘Is not the Lord among us?’” (Micah 3:11, NASB 1977). The pattern is unmistakable: compromise with power breeds spiritual blindness, and spiritual blindness produces institutional corruption.

Strategic Implications
Big Evangelicalism’s pursuit of cultural relevance has replaced its mandate for doctrinal fidelity. By aligning with federal power, globalist institutions, and elite approval structures, these leaders now function less as shepherds and more as political managers — unwilling to confront evil when it threatens their seat at the table.
