Former Scientologist and actress Leah Remini is sounding the alarm over what she describes as an increasingly visible effort by the Church of Scientology to embed itself within political power — including circles surrounding President Donald Trump. The warning follows public observations by conservative commentator Erick Erickson, who noted that a surprising number of Scientologists now appear to be operating in the president’s orbit.

Public Warning Sparks National Attention

Erickson wrote this week that there are “a lot of Scientologists hanging out in the President’s orbit lately.
Remini responded bluntly on X:

“Yes, this is accurate, Erick, and very scary. Thank you for always being aware of the dangers of Scientology and their successful infiltration of the Trump administration and the federal government overall.”

While Remini did not identify specific officials, her comments echo long-standing concerns she has voiced since leaving the church in 2013 after decades of involvement.

Documented Political Connections

According to reporting from Mediaite, several known Scientologists have appeared close to Trump-aligned institutions in recent years. Among them:

  • Patricia Duggan, appointed earlier this year to the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees
  • Grant Cardone, real estate developer and Scientologist who spoke at Trump’s 2024 Madison Square Garden rally

Critics argue these connections suggest a strategic effort by the organization to gain proximity to power centers.

A History of Coercion and Control

Remini has spent more than a decade exposing alleged abuse within Scientology, including accusations against leader David Miscavige of physical and emotional mistreatment. She has described the organization’s treatment of non-celebrity members as “cattle,” while elite figures receive special protection.

She has also repeatedly warned about Scientology’s “fair game” doctrine — a policy originating with founder L. Ron Hubbard that authorizes harassment of perceived enemies and defectors.

In 2023, Remini filed a federal harassment lawsuit against the church. The case remains ongoing.

Whistleblowers Describe Coordinated Infiltration

Journalist Yashar Ali, another long-time critic of Scientology, reinforced Remini’s concerns, writing that Hubbard’s own writings explicitly instruct leaders to “infiltrate governments and the lives of elected officials.”

Ali also accused prominent Scientology figures of attempting to embed themselves inside conservative organizations including Turning Point USA and Prager University, describing the organization as:

“A borderless totalitarian state and cult of personality… one of the most dangerous and criminal organizations to exist in modern history.”

The Church of Scientology strongly denies these allegations.

Prophetic Context

Scripture warns of institutions that seek control through deception:

“For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.”2 Corinthians 11:13 (NASB 1977)
“By smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.”Romans 16:18 (NASB 1977)

The concern raised by Remini and others fits a broader biblical pattern of power being quietly captured through influence rather than force.

Strategic Implications

If even partially accurate, these allegations raise serious questions about ideological capture, institutional transparency, and the vulnerability of American political systems to highly centralized organizations operating behind closed doors.

For conservatives, the issue is not theology — it is power, secrecy, and influence.

Conclusion

Leah Remini’s warning reopens a debate long dismissed as fringe but now entering mainstream political discussion. Whether her fears prove justified or not, the pattern of proximity between controversial institutions and centers of power warrants careful scrutiny — especially in an era of expanding government reach and global ideological competition.
