Balázs Orbán, political adviser to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and a key parliamentary figure, delivered a searing response to former President Barack Obama’s recent attacks on Hungary’s government, exposing what he calls the former president’s elitist agenda.
Speaking after Obama’s remarks at the Democracy Summit in London, Balázs Orbán tore through the globalist talking points:

The conflict escalated when Obama, in a roundtable with Hungarian and Polish dissident activists, warned of a “wave of authoritarianism,” citing attacks on civil society, press freedom, and judicial independence—thinly veiled jabs at Hungary’s illiberal democracy under Viktor Orbán.
Balázs Orbán fired back, pointing to the hypocrisy of Obama preaching democracy while his administration embraced mass surveillance and partnerships with questionable regimes. He reminded observers of Obama’s 2011 push to micromanage Hungary’s constitution via his senior foreign policy official Victoria Nuland—a clear attempt to override Hungary’s sovereignty.
“#Hungary neither requires your validation nor seeks your permission. The nation’s future will be determined solely by the will of the Hungarian people,” Balázs Orbán declared.
Orbán’s policies, he noted, have delivered 4.5% economic growth in 2024, while rejecting European Union and Obama-backed migrant quotas. These measures protect Hungary’s Christian values and national security, positioning the country as a bulwark against unchecked globalist agendas.
Balázs Orbán has long championed a governance model prioritizing the people’s will over liberal dogmas, inspiring conservative leaders worldwide, from Donald Trump to Italy’s and Poland’s nationalist parties. He emphasized that Hungary’s approach strengthens judicial independence while rejecting foreign meddling, a stark contrast to Obama’s attempts to impose a unipolar, liberal order on sovereign nations.
