Israel’s conspicuous absence from today’s international peace summit in Sharm el-Sheikh speaks louder than any speech given from the stage. While world leaders smiled for cameras and signed the so-called Gaza Peace Treaty under President Trump’s supervision, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and every member of his delegation were missing—officially due to a Jewish holiday, but unofficially due to what insiders are calling a strategic refusal to legitimize the deal.
Now, less than twenty-four hours later, Israeli military officials are openly signaling the likelihood of renewed strikes in Gaza, claiming Hamas has failed to return enough bodies of the dead hostages as agreed in Phase One of the peace framework.
The Deceptive Calm Before the Storm
More than twenty nations, from the United States to Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar, came together to “celebrate” what was billed as the dawn of peace in the Middle East. President Trump declared from the podium that the signed framework would “hold up,” even claiming it would mark a new chapter in regional stability.
But behind the scenes, Jerusalem is preparing for war. Sources inside Israel’s Security Cabinet told Channel 12 that the ceasefire’s wording left Israel “with room to act if Hamas violates even one clause.” With Hamas already failing to deliver 24 of the 28 expected Israeli bodies, that room has now become an open door.
The Holiday Excuse and the Hidden Calculus
Netanyahu’s decision to skip the summit was justified on paper as a matter of religious observance. But analysts across Europe and the Arab world quickly noted the deeper subtext: Netanyahu was not about to shake hands with Erdoğan or Qatar’s Emir, both of whom have accused Israel of genocide. Turkish President Erdoğan even threatened not to attend if Netanyahu were present — a diplomatic standoff that exposed the fractures beneath the surface of the “unity” summit.
In truth, Israel’s absence leaves it free from any binding legal or moral obligations. It can declare Hamas non-compliant and resume operations without technically violating a peace deal it never signed.
The Prophetic Tension: “Peace, Peace, When There Is No Peace”
Jeremiah’s warning once again echoes through the corridors of power:
“They have healed the brokenness of my people superficially, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace.” — Jeremiah 6:14
World leaders have congratulated themselves for achieving what they believe is “historic,” yet they have ignored the spiritual and prophetic dimension of this fragile truce. When Israel is told to stand down, prophecy says it will not last. The nations gather and speak of peace, but Zechariah 12:3 foretells that all who burden themselves with Jerusalem “shall be cut in pieces.”
Trump’s Confidence Meets Prophetic Reality
President Trump, ever the dealmaker, declared before landing in Israel: “The war is over, you understand?!” But prophecy declares otherwise. This “peace” is temporary—an illusion of calm before a greater shaking. As Israel regathers its strength and Hamas descends into chaos, Gaza stands on the brink of another round of judgment foretold by the prophets.
From Amos to Ezekiel, the Word warns that Gaza’s violence will invite divine wrath:
“For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away its punishment.” — Amos 1:6
The Stage Is Set for the Next Conflict
The so-called Sharm el-Sheikh peace deal may be remembered not as the dawn of peace, but as the calm before the prophetic storm. Israel, unbound and unrepentant, prepares for decisive strikes. Hamas, emboldened by illusionary “victory,” turns its weapons inward. And the nations—smiling in Egypt—are setting the stage for the fulfillment of Scripture that declares: “When they say peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:3
