Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is drawing a prophetic line in the sand, warning that a cornerstone of President Donald Trump’s economic agenda—the proposed GENIUS Act—could open the door to the very system described in the Book of Revelation as the “mark of the beast.”
Greene Breaks with Trump Over Digital Currency Concerns
On Wednesday, Greene took to X (formerly Twitter) to make clear that she would not support the bill, which the Trump administration has urged House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to bring to the floor for a swift vote. The legislation aims to modernize America’s financial infrastructure by integrating digital currencies and blockchain into the national banking system.
But Greene says the plan doesn’t go far enough to protect Americans from a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), warning that such a system could grant the federal government—or worse, globalist financial institutions—total control over citizens’ ability to buy or sell.
“I will not vote for this,” Greene wrote. “The only way to guarantee a ban on a central bank digital currency is through law. The GENIUS Act does not ban CBDC or maintain people’s chain of custody.”
A Prophetic Warning Echoing Revelation 13
In her post, Greene cited Revelation 13:16-17, which describes a time when no one will be able to “buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.” Her message—both political and spiritual—was unmistakable: if digital IDs and centralized crypto systems become mandatory, they could fulfill ancient prophecy about global economic enslavement.
This is not Greene’s first foray into prophetic warnings. The Georgia congresswoman has long opposed digital surveillance, social credit systems, and global economic schemes pushed by the World Economic Forum and the Bank for International Settlements. “A programmable currency means they can program your access—shut it off, tax it, or seize it,” she previously said. “That’s total control.”
Trump’s Tech Push Meets Evangelical Resistance
President Trump has positioned the GENIUS Act as a technological leap toward “American financial greatness,” boasting that it will prevent China and the EU from dominating the global crypto arena. Yet, critics within his own party fear the plan’s architecture could inadvertently empower the same international networks Trump has spent years fighting.
Evangelical and constitutional conservatives are increasingly wary of digital financial systems that could be used to enforce global compliance, climate taxes, or even vaccine mandates through programmable restrictions. Greene’s resistance taps into that growing anxiety among Christian voters who see digital identification and centralized banking as tools of prophetic tyranny.
The Globalist Drive Toward Digital Domination
Global elites, led by the WEF, IMF, and United Nations, have made clear their goal of phasing out physical cash in favor of traceable, programmable money systems tied to digital identity. Such systems could easily morph into global control grids—deciding who can travel, trade, or participate in commerce based on political loyalty or social behavior.
Analysts have long warned that these digital currencies are the backbone of a coming global governance system—the “beast system” that Revelation warns will enslave humanity under the Antichrist’s rule. With the GENIUS Act now entering Congress, the prophetic and political battle lines are being drawn.
Prophetic Implications and the Road Ahead
For believers, Greene’s stand is a reminder that not every “smart” or “genius” technology is benign. The prophetic Scriptures warn that the final world empire will control commerce, communication, and compliance through a global identification system. Whether the GENIUS Act represents the first steps toward that end remains to be seen—but Greene’s invocation of Revelation 13 suggests she believes we are much closer than most realize.
