There has never been a positive outcome when a government sets out to disarm its people. Authoritarian states are the inevitable result. Canada’s current leadership is walking down that path. In March 2025, Ottawa prohibited certain semi-automatic weapons, granting a one-year “amnesty” for lawful gun owners to surrender their rifles under a federally funded buyback program.
The government insists the program is “voluntary”—but in the same breath, Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree says there is an “expectation” that citizens will comply. History shows that such “expectations” quickly morph into mandates.
Leaked Audio Reveals The Truth Behind The Buyback
In a leaked audio clip, Anandasangaree privately admits what Canadians suspected: “I just don’t think municipal police services have the resources to do this.” The minister tried to downplay the remarks as a “joke” leaked by a gun lobbyist. But the recording captures him acknowledging that gun owners are losing money under the program’s C$400 flat-rate compensation per firearm—an amount far below market value.
When asked directly if noncompliance would make a gun owner a criminal, Anandasangaree didn’t mince words: “If the police enforce it, yes.”
Following Orders From The Top
Anandasangaree further confessed that the program is deeply flawed but said he is merely following orders: “We’ve had all these conversations… constant discussions… and the conclusion is let’s finish this because we committed to it in the campaign.” The conversation even referenced former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney, underscoring how globalist financiers have a seat at Canada’s domestic policy table.
One gun owner in the leaked call warned the minister: “You’re going to turn me into a criminal, Gary. Because you know I’m not gonna turn mine in. I refused it.” He added that police already know where he lives and where his firearms are stored. “They’re gonna come in, rip open my safe… take those firearms and put me in handcuffs.” Anandasangaree responded he would “bail him out” if that happened—an admission that enforcement could get ugly.
Trudeau Tried And Failed—But The New Regime Persists
Disgraced former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attempted a similar buyback program on May 1, 2020, but stopped short of outright revoking gun licenses or seizing property. The current plan, capped at C$742 million, goes further. Money is not the issue—control is. Canadians have had the right to legally own firearms for 243 years. Suddenly, Ottawa has decided they no longer deserve it.
Gun Confiscation Veiled As Gun Control
The pattern is familiar: what begins as “voluntary” morphs into “mandatory.” Those who refuse to comply face criminal charges. Yet law-abiding citizens are rarely the perpetrators of gun crimes. As in every country that has tried it, disarmament leaves criminals—and governments—with all the weapons.
Even Anandasangaree admitted Ottawa has yet to decide how to respond if the majority refuse to comply. After COVID-19’s coercive lockdowns and mandates, many Canadians believe most will cave under pressure.
Prophetic Warning: The Disarmament Road Always Ends In Tyranny
Scripture warns that when governments strip the people of their means of defense, bondage follows (1 Samuel 13:19-22). What’s happening in Canada today is a test case for the rest of the Western world. A voluntary program today can become criminalized tomorrow, and once rights are surrendered, they are rarely returned.
Canadians stand at a crossroads: comply and hope for benevolence, or resist and risk being labeled criminals by the very state sworn to protect their freedoms.
