Astronomers are sounding the alarm over a mysterious interstellar comet — one that is far bigger and stranger than originally believed, with some scientists now suggesting it could even be an alien reconnaissance probe. The object, known as 3I/ATLAS, was discovered by NASA on July 1 and has since been under close observation. Initial estimates pegged it as Manhattan-sized, but Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb and his team now calculate its mass at more than 33 billion tons with a nucleus over 3 miles wide — dwarfing its famous predecessors, ‘Oumuamua (2017) and 2I/Borisov (2019).

A Rare Visitor From Beyond
3I/ATLAS is only the third confirmed interstellar object ever detected in our solar system. Its rarity alone is baffling. “Given the limited reservoir of heavy elements, we should have discovered on the order of a hundred thousand interstellar objects on the 0.1-kilometer scale of 1I/’Oumuamua before finding 3I/ATLAS, yet we only detected two interstellar objects previously,” Loeb wrote. The sheer improbability of finding it — coupled with its massive size — has fueled speculation that this is not a random cosmic rock but something far more deliberate.

Trajectory Raises Questions
While NASA insists the object poses no direct threat to Earth, its trajectory will take it suspiciously close to the orbits of Jupiter, Venus, and Mars, skimming within 1.67 million miles of Mars’ orbit this past weekend. Even more unsettling is its low retrograde tilt — spinning in the opposite direction of most solar system bodies — which Loeb’s team argues could allow it to “access our planet with relative impunity.”

Its subdued gravitational acceleration and unusual path have sparked debate. Loeb and colleagues Adam Drowl and Adam Hibberd published a paper on July 17 positing that 3I/ATLAS may be a technological artifact with active intelligence. They warn that its reconnaissance-like trajectory could enable it to gather astrometric data on our solar system, preparing an “optimal approach strategy.”

Alien Probe — Or Natural Oddity?
Critics dismiss the alien-tech theory, claiming its peculiarities could be explained by natural processes such as outgassing or unique formation conditions. Yet Loeb has become known for challenging conventional thinking, having previously suggested ‘Oumuamua was a possible lightsail from an advanced civilization. He insists that dismissing such possibilities outright reflects scientific bias, not objectivity.

As he put it: “This is a once-in-a-lifetime event. We must collect every possible observation while we can.”

Prophetic Implications
The timing of this discovery cannot be ignored. Jesus Himself warned in Luke 21:11 that in the last days there would be “fearful sights and great signs from heaven.” Whether natural or artificial, the appearance of massive, interstellar objects aligns with a prophetic pattern of warning signs in the skies. If 3I/ATLAS is indeed a probe from a hostile intelligence — human or otherwise — it would fit seamlessly into elite-driven deception strategies, including staged alien-contact scenarios like Project Blue Beam, long whispered about in intelligence circles.
