On September 29, Afghanistan was plunged into a total digital blackout after the Taliban severed fiber optic cables, shut down mobile networks, cut off telephony, and blocked satellite TV. More than 40 million Afghans now find themselves without internet, banking, education, or even basic air traffic communications. For the first time in modern history, an entire nation has been almost completely severed from the outside world.

Taliban’s Excuse: “Fight Against Immorality”

The Taliban claims the unprecedented shutdown was necessary to fight the “spread of depravity” and “immorality.” The regime has long denounced online access as a source of pornography and “forbidden intimacy” between men and women. Yet critics point out that the real target is civil liberties and free information flow, with the blackout serving as another iron curtain against dissent.

Chaos Across the Nation

The impact was immediate and devastating.

  • Flights have been disrupted as aviation systems lost critical communications.
  • Banking and e-commerce collapsed overnight, trapping millions without access to salaries or savings.
  • Online jobs and schools, a lifeline for many in a collapsing economy, have been obliterated.
  • Families abroad are cut off from loved ones, unable to call or message across borders.

“It’s not just the Internet, but mobile phone signal,” one teacher in Hairatan told Radio Azadi. “People aren’t able to work or stay connected with their families.”

Internet watchdog NetBlocks confirmed Afghanistan is in the midst of a “total Internet blackout.”

Crushing Women, Silencing the World

Since seizing power in 2021, the Taliban has systematically erased the rights of women—banning them from education, stripping them from the workplace, and enforcing brutal Shari’a restrictions. Now, by cutting off the internet, the Taliban has removed the last lifeline for Afghan women, who used broadband as a bridge to online study and remote work.

“The Internet has been a lifeline for Afghan women,” noted one analyst. “Cutting it means cutting off their very existence in society.”

Warnings From Experts and the UN

The UN Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) condemned the move, warning it risks worsening one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. Afghan analysts abroad warned the blackout will devastate what remains of Afghanistan’s fragile economy:

“If you cut off the Internet, it means that you have cut off life because nothing is possible without the Internet,” said Ishaq Atmar, an Afghan analyst in Germany.

Meanwhile, Afghan journalist Haroon Basir, based in France, lamented:

“I have not been able to contact my family since September 29. This is a huge pain for me, and a huge challenge for thousands of Afghans who cannot contact their families.”

Globalist Parallels: A Test Case for Digital Tyranny

While the Taliban’s excuse is religion, the broader globalist agenda is clear: digital access is power. And power can be cut at will. Afghanistan has become a test case for how quickly a nation can be severed from the grid—and how easily populations can be controlled once disconnected.

The same biometric systems now being rolled out in Europe and elsewhere—tracking fingerprints, facial recognition, and entry-exit movements—can just as easily be switched off. In Afghanistan, the Taliban severed cables. In the West, unelected bureaucrats and globalist technocrats hold the switch.

Prophetic Implications: The Road to the Beast System

Revelation warns of a coming time when “no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark” (Revelation 13:17). The Afghan blackout reveals just how fragile modern life is when cut from digital infrastructure. Banking, buying, selling, and even survival are instantly compromised.

This is a chilling foreshadowing of how the Antichrist system could one day enforce global control—simply by shutting off access to the grid.

What is happening in Kabul today may be the blueprint for tomorrow’s world.
