California Governor Gavin Newsom just collided head-on with the U.S. Constitution. His new law—banning Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from wearing protective masks during operations—was immediately struck down in practice by Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli, who told federal agencies to ignore it outright.

Supremacy Clause vs. State Tyranny
Essayli’s memo, released Friday, invoked the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution, reminding Newsom that states have no authority to dictate federal law enforcement tactics. “Governor Newsom is confused about his role under the U.S. Constitution. He oversees California, not federal agencies,” Essayli wrote on X. “He should review the Supremacy Clause.”

With this, Essayli drew a constitutional line in the sand: California’s law will not bind federal officers, who remain shielded by federal authority and internal DHS safety policies.

Weaponized Politics Against ICE
Newsom signed the law with rhetorical flair, declaring: “ICE, unmask. What are you afraid of?” But behind the virtue signaling lies something far darker. ICE agents have been subjected to relentless harassment campaigns:

Doxing attacks from Antifa-linked networks like Rose City Counter-Info in Portland, which published agents’ names, faces, and addresses.
Targeted violence, including this week’s Dallas sniper attack on an ICE facility. The shooter’s shell casings were etched with anti-ICE slogans, killing one detainee and critically wounding two others.
1,000% increase in assaults on ICE officers, according to DHS, directly linked to the Democrat-driven narrative painting agents as “Gestapo” or “slave patrols.”

Mask bans in this climate aren’t about “accountability.” They’re about stripping federal officers of protection while radical groups target their families with impunity.

Globalist Undermining of Sovereignty
The real agenda emerges when viewed through a wider lens. Open-border elites in California and beyond have long worked to weaken national sovereignty, replacing it with transnational governance. Forcing ICE agents to “unmask” doesn’t just expose them to danger—it symbolically dismantles their authority.
