Tucker Carlson Sparks Firestorm at Charlie Kirk Memorial With Story of Jesus’ Murder — Critics Say He Hinted at Antisemitic Conspiracy

What was meant to be a solemn memorial service for Charlie Kirk — a gathering of America’s conservative leaders, family, and friends — turned into controversy after Tucker Carlson invoked the murder of Jesus Christ in a way that many perceived as a veiled nod to antisemitic conspiracy theories. Carlson, speaking before a crowd that included President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and top conservative figures, drew parallels between Kirk’s assassination earlier this month and the crucifixion of Jesus two thousand years ago.

Carlson’s Words and the Fallout
Carlson recounted what he described as “my favorite story ever” — the plot to silence Jesus by killing Him. He painted the scene of leaders in Jerusalem sitting around “eating hummus” and deciding, “I’ve got an idea. Why don’t we just kill him? That’ll shut him up.” Carlson then compared this plot to Kirk’s killing, saying those who hated Kirk for “telling the truth” believed silencing him by assassination would end his influence.

While Carlson never explicitly mentioned Jews, Israel, or Prime Minister Netanyahu, both critics and supporters saw an undeniable link. For many listening — including right-wing Jews who had admired Kirk — the comparison struck dangerously close to the antisemitic theory circulating online that Israel was behind Kirk’s death. That theory gained so much traction that Netanyahu himself twice publicly denied it last week, first in a Newsmax interview and then in a direct video address.

Jewish Leaders Sound the Alarm
Prominent Jewish commentators immediately voiced outrage. Adam King, who goes by “Awesome Jew” on Infowars, blasted Carlson’s “hummus” remark as a dogwhistle linking the crucifixion narrative to modern-day Israel. Conservative commentator Bethany Mandel agreed, calling Carlson’s framing “a dog whistle I couldn’t ignore,” and warning of a battle for the soul of the conservative movement.

Mark Dubowitz of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, a pro-Israel group, expressed deep disappointment, saying Carlson had used Kirk’s memorial to spread “antisemitic blood libels.” He contrasted Tucker with his late father, Richard Carlson, who had been a staunch ally of the Jewish people.

The Theory Gains Momentum Abroad
Outside the U.S., Carlson’s words quickly spread through media networks eager to exploit division. The Quds News Network, a Palestinian outlet, posted a clip of the speech captioned: “Tucker Carlson suggests Israeli involvement in Charlie Kirk’s death.”

Meanwhile, commentators noted that Carlson was far from alone in flirting with the idea. Candace Owens and Nick Fuentes, both of whom have longstanding histories of amplifying antisemitic narratives, also suggested that Israel had reason to target Kirk because his influence was undermining support for the Jewish state within the conservative movement.

Critics Within the GOP
Max Abrahms, a Republican terrorism expert, warned that Carlson’s speech symbolized a growing “un-American toxicity” within the GOP, where figures once known for rigorous debate have instead embraced conspiracy theories and veiled antisemitic dog whistles. “What concerns me isn’t Tucker,” Abrahms wrote. “What concerns me is how welcomed this has become in the Republican Party.”

A Kansas rabbi, Sam Stern, responded by asking, “As long as he is welcomed, will we be?” — a question that Abrahms said answered itself.

A Movement at a Crossroads
The memorial was organized by Turning Point USA in Glendale, Arizona, and included a who’s who of conservative politics. Alongside Trump and Vance, speakers like Stephen Miller and Laura Loomer attended, with many using the event as a platform to emphasize faith, revival, and Christian nationalism. Vance himself admitted, “I have talked more about Jesus Christ in the past two weeks than I have in my entire public life.”

Yet Carlson’s comments — intended, perhaps, to liken Kirk’s silencing to the silencing of Christ — have left deep fractures. For Jewish conservatives, many of whom considered Kirk a steadfast ally of Israel, the suggestion that Jews or Israelis were behind his murder crosses a line. For others, Carlson’s words represent a dangerous mainstreaming of a conspiracy that plays directly into antisemitic tropes warned about for centuries.

Prophetic Undercurrents
To those watching this unfold through the lens of prophecy, Carlson’s words and the storm they provoked reflect a growing divide between Christians and Jews — a division long prophesied as nations turn against Israel. The very idea that Israel could be accused of orchestrating the death of a pro-Israel conservative leader shows how quickly lies can gain power in an age of deception. Jesus Himself warned that in the last days, many would be deceived, and truth would be twisted to pit brother against brother.

What was supposed to be a memorial to honor Charlie Kirk’s legacy has now become another flashpoint in the cultural and prophetic struggle shaping the conservative movement — and the world.
