Israel declared Tuesday that “Gaza is burning” as its military launched the long-anticipated ground invasion of Gaza City, the most intense stage of its war to dismantle Hamas. The skies thundered with airstrikes, tanks rolled through shattered streets, naval vessels pounded the coast, and Defense Minister Israel Katz promised an “iron fist” against terrorist strongholds. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, even while testifying in his ongoing corruption trial, boasted that the IDF had begun the “main stage” of operations to defeat Hamas and secure the release of hostages. But the assault, cheered on by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, is also pushing nearly a million Palestinians into what critics are calling forced encampments—an ominous echo of prophetic warnings about nations dividing God’s land.
‘Gaza Is Burning’—The Iron Fist Strikes
For weeks, Israel’s military had encircled Gaza City, forcing out an estimated 320,000 residents while nearly 650,000 remained trapped among the ruins. The ground operation now aims to eliminate Hamas “politically and militarily,” Netanyahu said. Katz posted bluntly: “The IDF strikes with an iron fist at the terrorist infrastructure and IDF soldiers are fighting bravely to create the conditions for the release of the hostages and the defeat of Hamas.” Heavy bombardments leveled more homes and high-rises as civilians fled in caravans with what little they could carry.
Washington’s Stamp of Approval
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who visited Israel Monday, offered full-throated support for the hard line. “We have to be prepared for the possibility that a diplomatic end is not going to happen,” Rubio declared, endorsing Israel’s demand that Hamas surrender unconditionally and release all hostages. In effect, Washington has aligned itself with the military option over ceasefire negotiations. But this position comes at a staggering human cost: over 64,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023, Gaza’s health ministry reports, and famine grips much of the enclave.
Warnings From Within Israel
Not everyone in Israel’s security establishment agrees with Netanyahu’s strategy. Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir urged the Prime Minister to pursue a ceasefire deal, warning that the offensive could become a “death trap” for troops and risk the lives of the remaining 20 hostages believed to be alive. Hostage families gathered outside Netanyahu’s home Monday night, accusing him of sacrificing their loved ones for political gain. “He is doing everything to ensure there is no deal and not to bring them back,” said Anat Angrest, whose son Matan is still held in Gaza. The anguish of families has become a political firestorm in Israel, exposing deep fractures in the nation’s leadership at its most perilous hour.
The UN and the Global Outcry
The United Nations and critics worldwide are condemning Israel’s mass displacement of Palestinians, warning of catastrophic conditions in the south where refugees are crammed into so-called “humanitarian zones” with little food or water. While Israel insists its actions are necessary to defeat Hamas, opponents accuse it of carrying out collective punishment that borders on ethnic cleansing. The international stage is sharpening its knives, and the divide between Israel’s defenders and detractors grows sharper with every strike.
Prophetic Warnings: Dividing the Land Brings Judgment
The Bible speaks with piercing clarity about these days. Joel 3 warns that God will judge the nations that “divide My land.” Zechariah 12 declares Jerusalem will become a “cup of trembling” for all nations. As Israel’s leaders double down on war and Washington rushes to defend every move, the prophetic stage is being set. We are watching not just a geopolitical struggle, but a spiritual one—nations raging, leaders hardening their hearts, and blood flowing in the land God calls His own.
The Bigger Picture
This isn’t just about Hamas or Israel. It’s about the globalist push for a forced two-state solution, one that will carve up the land of Israel under the banner of “peace and security.” Already, the UN has scheduled its September summit to revive the so-called peace process. But the Bible tells us clearly what happens when men impose their will on God’s covenant land: destruction, chaos, and judgment. As “Gaza burns,” the world edges closer to the final prophetic confrontation laid out in Scripture.
