In the wake of the shocking assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, President Donald Trump has announced that his administration will investigate billionaire Democratic donor George Soros for possible RICO violations, alleging the financier may be behind organized efforts to fund political unrest and violence across the United States.
“Real Agitation” on America’s Streets
Speaking on Fox & Friends, President Trump emphasized that the country is facing more than peaceful protests. “This is real agitation; this is riots on the street — and we’re going to look into that,” Trump said. The president suggested that Soros and his son, Alex Soros, may have played a role in funding and coordinating violent leftist movements, including anti-police riots, anti-Israel protests, and other radical campaigns designed to destabilize conservative leadership.
The timing comes just days after Kirk, 31, was fatally shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University, a political assassination that Trump describes as the direct result of years of radical-left rhetoric demonizing conservative leaders.
RICO: The Legal Weapon
Trump has repeatedly floated the possibility of filing Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) charges against Soros and other organizers of political violence. RICO allows prosecutors to target individuals involved in ongoing criminal enterprises, including money laundering, bribery, and the funding of illegal activities — tools Trump claims are applicable to Soros’ network of influence.
“George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of violent protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America,” Trump wrote on Truth Social in August, before Kirk’s assassination.
Funding Radical Agendas
Investigations by conservative outlets have alleged that Soros’ Open Society Foundations have funneled millions into far-left organizations, including groups responsible for organizing the Free D.C. protests, Black Lives Matter initiatives, and anti-Israel demonstrations. While Open Society Foundation spokespeople deny direct funding of violent protests, Trump’s administration claims that the flow of money into politically radical networks warrants scrutiny.
Soros’ influence extends to Democratic campaigns as well. In 2022, he donated over $128 million to Democratic candidates during midterms, with his son Alex actively serving as chair of the board of the Open Society Foundations. Trump alleges that this influence is part of a broader effort to destabilize conservative governments and amplify anti-American agendas.
Charlie Kirk’s Assassination: A Wake-Up Call
Trump links Kirk’s death directly to radical leftist networks, stating: “The radicals on the left are the problem, and they’re vicious and they’re horrible and they’re politically savvy… This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now.”
The president vowed to “find each and every one of those who contributed to this atrocity and to other political violence, including the organizations that fund it and support it.” For Trump, the investigation into Soros is not merely political — it is a matter of national security and public safety.
