The United Nations was founded on the lofty promise of peace, human rights, and democracy. But as Israel’s former Prime Minister Yair Lapid bluntly argues, the institution has become little more than a circus of hypocrisy—dominated by dictatorships, funded by the West, and obsessed with condemning Israel while turning a blind eye to true global atrocities.

Democracies Outnumbered and Outvoted
According to the Economist Intelligence Unit, out of the UN’s 193 member states, only 25 qualify as “full democracies.” That means the overwhelming majority of votes, resolutions, and budgets are dictated by regimes with no free elections and no accountability. And they use that power shamelessly. This is how Iran, even as women were being beaten to death in the streets, sat on the UN Commission on the Status of Women. How Syria chaired the Conference on Disarmament while gassing its own people. How North Korea presided over disarmament while brandishing nukes. And how China, the world’s biggest surveillance state, sits on the Human Rights Council.

The Obsession With Israel
Israel, representing just 0.1% of the world’s population, has been the target of more than 60% of all UN condemnations over the last decade. In 2023, the very year Hamas launched its brutal October 7 attack, the General Assembly passed 15 resolutions against Israel—and only 8 against the rest of the world combined. Wars in Syria, Yemen, Ethiopia, and Myanmar claimed hundreds of thousands of lives, yet the UN’s focus remained fixated on the Jewish state. As Lapid put it, this is nothing less than “the diplomatic equivalent of a psychotic episode.”

A Black Hole of Billions
The UN system burns through more than $70 billion annually, largely bankrolled by the U.S. and EU. That’s more than the entire annual budgets of Luxembourg, Estonia, Malta, and Cyprus combined. Yet what is the world buying with this colossal expenditure? Not freedom. Not human rights. Not peace. Instead, authoritarian states weaponize the UN’s machinery to shield themselves, attack democracies, and spread propaganda.

The Call for a New Alliance
Lapid proposes replacing this broken system with a new body—a UN of Democracies. He suggests the Democratic Alliance for World Nations (DAWN), a coalition built on a binding contract: if you want access to democratic money, power, and markets, you must abide by democratic rules. No more dictators getting rich while abusing their own citizens. No more rogue regimes using the UN as cover to pursue nuclear weapons, terrorism, and censorship.

Prophetic Implications: The Globalist Masquerade
For decades, globalists have used the UN as a stage to advance their agenda of centralized power and one-world governance. Bible prophecy warns of a final empire that rises under false promises of peace, only to persecute truth and exalt tyranny (Daniel 7, Revelation 13). What we see today in the UN’s corruption is a foreshadowing of that system. Instead of defending freedom, the UN has become a platform for the very regimes that despise it.

The question is clear: will free nations continue funding their own condemnation at the UN altar, or will they rise and form a new alliance of liberty before it’s too late?
