Astronomers in Austria captured fresh images of 3I/ATLAS during the September 7 lunar eclipse, revealing that the object had shifted from a reddish glow to a glowing green-blue hue. Michael Jäger, who led the team, explained that the images showed a “gas-rich coma” forming around the object, along with a faint tail. While scientists say the behavior resembles a comet “breaking open” after eons of exposure to cosmic radiation, the transformation has puzzled observers because it doesn’t fit established comet models.

Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb, known for his controversial theory that the first interstellar visitor, `Oumuamua, may have been an alien probe, is once again raising alarms. Loeb points to the massive size of 3I/ATLAS, its extreme brightness, and the absence of a normal cometary tail as red flags.
