President Donald Trump is now turning his eyes to Chicago, Illinois, as part of his ongoing federal interventions following the successful takeover of Washington, DC. The President has threatened to deploy National Guard troops to tackle surging crime in the Windy City, citing weekend violence that left six dead and 27 injured, according to CBS reports.

Trump slammed Illinois Governor JB Pritzker for refusing federal assistance, tweeting, “Governor Pritzker had 6 murders in Chicago this weekend. 20 people were shot. But he doesn’t want to ask me for help. Can this be possible? The people are desperate for me to STOP THE CRIME, something the Democrats aren’t capable of doing. STAY TUNED!!!”

The Illinois governor, in response, accused the President of attempting to “occupy a U.S. city, punish its dissidents, and score political points,” calling any potential deployment “unconstitutional,” “un-American,” and a “dangerous power grab.”

Trump’s action in DC, which began on August 7 with federal agents and continued with National Guard deployment on August 11, has reportedly delivered measurable results. DC Mayor Muriel Bowser confirmed an 87% decrease in carjackings and a 15% drop in overall crime since the intervention.

Now, Trump signals he may replicate the strategy in other Democrat-run cities, including Baltimore, New York, and San Francisco, promising to “clean up” urban areas that have been plagued by unchecked crime under Democratic leadership.

As violent crime surges nationwide, the debate intensifies over whether federal intervention in city policing is necessary — or an unprecedented overreach.
