Hollywood wasted no time hijacking tragedy. Hours after a transgender gunman opened fire inside Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, killing two children and wounding at least 17 others, actress Mia Farrow jumped online to blame conservatives and push for stricter gun laws.
Farrow wrote on Bluesky: “Today Children Gunned down. Two dead children, 7 children in critical condition. High velocity gun. 14 children, 3 adults injured. Rational gun laws desperately needed. Many Republican lawmakers receive significant money (millions in bribes) from gun makers & NRA.”
The alleged shooter, Robin Westman, previously known as Robert, reportedly began identifying as a woman in 2020. Video belonging to Westman showed messages including “Kill Donald Trump” and anti-Christian symbols. Westman killed himself during the attack, according to Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara.
Farrow’s rush to politicize echoes comments from Democratic leaders, including Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who called for more gun control, and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), who demanded a national ban on assault weapons. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey also weighed in, saying, “Don’t just say this is about thoughts and prayers right now. These kids were literally praying!”
The timing and tone of these political statements have sparked outrage, as families and the city reel from a horrific act of violence that claimed innocent lives.
