The World Economic Forum has found its next target in the globalist war on food: rice. That’s right—the humble grain that sustains nearly half of humanity is now being painted as a climate threat, with unelected technocrats openly plotting restrictions on its cultivation. At a recent WEF session, World Bank president Ajay Banga declared rice an “existential” danger to the planet, citing methane emissions as the new villain.

“We’re talking about taking out ten million tonnes of methane by focusing on [rice paddy cultivation], on animal and dairy, and on waste management,” Banga said. Methane, he argued, is “eighty times more dangerous than carbon dioxide.” The implication was clear: rice farmers—millions of whom are poor, rural, and dependent on the crop for survival—are to blame for a climate “crisis” that conveniently justifies radical intervention in global food systems.
This framing is eerily familiar. First it was beef, then dairy, then fertilizer. Now rice is in the crosshairs. Each step advances the WEF’s ultimate agenda: to dismantle traditional agriculture, centralize food production, and normalize synthetic alternatives.
Hunger by Design
Rice is not a luxury food—it is life for billions in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Curtailing its cultivation is not a minor policy shift but a direct assault on the survival of vulnerable populations. “Climate-friendly” restrictions, taxes, or outright bans will hit the poorest first, pushing already fragile communities into deeper hunger.
Critics warn this is not about “saving the planet” but consolidating control. As one analyst noted, “Reducing rice output won’t cool the Earth—but it will create dependence on globalist-approved food systems, lab-grown substitutes, and corporate-controlled supply chains.”

The rice crackdown fits a broader trend: dismantling reliable, affordable food sources under the banner of climate change. We’ve seen nitrogen fertilizer bans devastate farmers in Sri Lanka, beef demonized in Europe, and insect protein pushed as the “sustainable alternative.” Every move creates greater dependency on elites who manufacture scarcity in order to dictate consumption.
The Bible warns of a future in which a “measure of wheat for a penny” will be all the common man can afford (Revelation 6:6). The engineered war on rice, wheat, and meat looks increasingly like a fulfillment of this prophecy—an intentional constriction of resources to prepare the way for centralized, technocratic control.

By labeling rice—one of the most basic, nourishing, and culturally rooted foods—as an environmental danger, the WEF reveals its true agenda. This is not about protecting the Earth; it is about reshaping human life according to a depopulation and control blueprint. The suffering of millions is treated as a “necessary sacrifice” in the march toward a global food system where what you eat is dictated not by culture, community, or God’s provision, but by the dictates of unelected elites.
