In yet another dramatic twist in the ongoing battle between Donald Trump and leftist prosecutors, New York Attorney General Letitia James erupted in fury after a New York Appeals Court threw out the $515+ million civil fraud penalty against President Trump. Rather than accepting the decision, James immediately vowed to appeal to the Court of Appeals, signaling that her campaign to target Trump will continue unabated.

“The First Department today affirmed the well-supported finding of the trial court: Donald Trump, his company, and two of his children are liable for fraud,” James declared. She added that the injunctive relief limiting Trump and the Trump Organization’s ability to do business in New York remained intact, insisting that “yet another court has ruled that the president violated the law, and that our case has merit.”

Despite the appellate ruling striking down the massive monetary penalty, James claimed she would “continue to protect the rights and interests of New Yorkers” through further legal action. This comes after her initial lawsuit sought $370 million in damages, despite there being no actual victim, and aimed to prevent Trump and his sons from conducting any business in New York.

Judge Arthur Engoron had originally ordered Trump to pay more than $355 million in fines and barred him from serving as an officer or director of any New York corporation for three years. Engoron accused Trump and his children of “participating in aiding and abetting the conspiracy to commit insurance fraud” by falsifying business records and valuations, allegedly causing materially fraudulent statements to be submitted to insurers.

Letitia James even attempted the unprecedented move of seizing Trump’s assets after he could not post bond or pay the massive judgement — a step widely criticized as political theater aimed at undermining a presidential candidate.

The Appeals Court’s decision represents a historic rebuke to James and her allies, undermining their narrative that Trump is a corporate fraudster.
