Physicians behind the project boast that the robot’s artificial womb can replicate natural pregnancy using a special feeding tube to sustain fetal growth. The company claims this will allow “real humans and robots to interact to achieve pregnancy,” effectively bypassing a woman’s womb. Kaiwa’s founder even suggested the innovation is designed for couples wishing to avoid the “burden of pregnancy” or who suffer from infertility.
