Pfizer’s Fingerprints on a Controversial Vaccine
The Hendra vaccine was first developed under Pfizer’s animal health division, later rebranded as Zoetis in 2013. Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla previously ran Pfizer Animal Health from 2005 to 2010—during the critical period when the vaccine was prepared for market. Since the jab’s release in 2012, veterinarians have been pressured to push the vaccine aggressively, with mandatory protocols, six-monthly boosters, and heavy-handed messaging that many owners say leave them feeling trapped.

Regulators Turn a Blind Eye
Despite the mounting reports of adverse reactions and deaths, regulators continue to label incidents as “rare” or “unverified.” For owners who have lost a horse, such reassurances offer little comfort. The latest case involves a previously healthy horse that fell critically ill less than two weeks after vaccination, showing the same symptoms as horses that previously collapsed and died.

“This vaccine has killed dozens of healthy horses already. The authorities are not listening,” one owner said.

The Hendra virus itself is rare, transmitted sporadically from flying foxes to horses and only occasionally to humans.
