On the eve of his Oval Office showdown with President Donald Trump, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky has flatly rejected America’s call for a peace deal with Russia, insisting instead that no negotiations are possible without a formal ceasefire. Standing beside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels on Sunday, Zelensky declared that Ukraine “cannot negotiate under pressure of weapons” and that territorial concessions remain constitutionally forbidden. The announcement signals that Ukraine, backed by Europe’s globalist leadership, is doubling down on perpetual war—regardless of the cost to its people or the continent.
Trump’s Deal-Making Meets Resistance
President Trump, fresh from his summit with Vladimir Putin in Alaska, has been pushing for a comprehensive peace agreement that ends the war rather than prolongs it. Frustrated by Zelensky’s reliance on the Ukrainian constitution as an excuse, Trump recently quipped: “He has got approval to go into war and kill everybody, but he needs approval to do a land swap.” For Trump, a truce without terms is meaningless—what matters is a final settlement. Yet Zelensky, backed by von der Leyen and a parade of European leaders flying into Washington, insists the guns must fall silent before any discussion of Moscow’s demands can begin.
Moscow’s Position Remains Firm
The Kremlin has rejected calls for a ceasefire, arguing that Ukraine would simply use the pause to rearm and regroup. Russia insists that any lasting peace must include Ukraine’s renunciation of NATO membership, demilitarization, and recognition of the “new territorial realities” in Crimea, Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson, and Zaporozhye. These terms are red lines for Zelensky, who told reporters on Sunday that “trading land is forbidden” by Ukraine’s constitution.
Von der Leyen’s War Rhetoric
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, far from encouraging negotiations, inflamed the war footing further by repeating her metaphor that Ukraine must become a “steel porcupine, indigestible to potential invaders.” She promised more EU support for Ukraine’s defense industry, particularly in drone production, and announced that the EU’s 19th sanctions package against Russia is already in preparation. “Decisions regarding territory belong only to Ukraine,” von der Leyen said, effectively backing Kyiv’s hardline refusal to make compromises.
Globalist Agenda Exposed
The timing is no accident. With Trump pressing for peace, Europe’s globalist leaders have rallied to Zelensky’s side in Washington, determined to forestall any deal that ends the war on terms favorable to Moscow. Their true agenda is not peace but perpetual conflict—keeping Russia contained, NATO empowered, and the flow of weapons and reconstruction contracts secure. As in past wars, the costs will fall on ordinary Europeans, who face energy shortages, inflation, and economic decline while their leaders demand “whatever it takes” to prolong the bloodshed.
Prophetic Warning
The Bible warns of a generation that prefers destruction to repentance. In Matthew 12:45, Jesus describes a man who, once cleansed, is overtaken by “seven other spirits more wicked than himself,” leaving his last state worse than the first. So too with Zelensky’s arrival in Washington, flanked by von der Leyen, NATO leaders, and Europe’s war bloc. Rather than seeking peace, they arrive to drag America deeper into conflict, ensuring that the end state is worse than the beginning. The prophetic handwriting is on the wall: this is not a march toward peace, but toward the greater wars foretold in Scripture.
The Choice Before Trump
On Monday, Trump faces a stark test. Will he stand firm against the coalition of war now landing in Washington, or will he bend under pressure from Zelensky and his European backers? One path leads to a negotiated peace that stabilizes the region; the other to escalation, division, and the acceleration of prophetic events. For now, Zelensky has made his choice—and it is not peace.
