A new frontier of the elite-controlled food system is arriving at your dinner table: lab-grown salmon. Wildtype, a San Francisco-based company backed by Jeff Bezos, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Robert Downey Jr., has secured FDA approval for its cultivated salmon, and it is now being served in restaurants across the United States.
The Science Behind the “Seafood Revolution”
Unlike plant-based alternatives, Wildtype’s salmon is grown directly from salmon cells harvested from living fish. These cells multiply in bioreactors—large steel tanks similar to those used for brewing beer—fed with a nutrient-rich mix of proteins, sugars, fats, salts, and essential minerals such as iron and zinc. Once harvested, the cells are blended with plant ingredients to form sushi-grade “saku” cuts that are biologically indistinguishable from traditionally sourced salmon.
The process promises all the health benefits of wild salmon without the heavy metals and contaminants that have long plagued seafood. Wildtype’s product first debuted at Kann, a Portland, Oregon restaurant run by award-winning chef Gregory Gourdet in May 2025, and has now expanded to locations in Texas, California, and Washington.
FDA Approval and Regulatory Loopholes
Unlike lab-grown meat, which requires dual FDA and USDA oversight, lab-grown seafood falls solely under the FDA’s jurisdiction, creating a regulatory pathway that may accelerate rollout. Wildtype is the fourth U.S. company to achieve FDA approval for lab-grown protein, joining Upside Foods, GOOD Meat, and Mission Barns.
The company has raised over $100 million to scale operations and is actively seeking retail distribution, with pilot production already underway in San Francisco.
State Pushback Against Globalist Food Control
Despite the fanfare, not all states are welcoming this elite-backed experiment. Seven U.S. states have now banned lab-grown meat, citing concerns over public safety, labeling, and the protection of traditional agriculture.
- Florida, Indiana, Nebraska, Montana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Texas have passed bans on the manufacture, processing, distribution, and sale of cell-cultured proteins.
- Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s Senate Bill 261 will go into effect September 1, criminalizing the sale of lab-grown protein in the state.
- Florida Governor Ron DeSantis framed the ban as a defense of his state’s vibrant agricultural industry against globalist elites seeking to scapegoat livestock agriculture for climate change.
The Bigger Picture: Control on Your Plate
This isn’t merely a culinary innovation—it is part of a larger elite-driven agenda to redefine food systems worldwide. By controlling lab-grown protein production, tech magnates like Bezos and Hollywood elites position themselves to dictate what Americans eat, where it comes from, and how it is regulated. Traditional farmers are increasingly caught in the crosshairs, while states like Florida and Texas push back against the encroachment of globalist influence.
As lab-grown seafood spreads to more restaurants, Americans must ask: Will we allow globalist elites to rewrite our food supply, or will states continue defending our agricultural sovereignty?
