According to reports, the private jet that whisked a group of AWOL Texas lawmakers out of the Lone Star State — all to sabotage the GOP’s redistricting efforts — was paid for by O’Rourke’s PAC, Powered by People. The plane trip alone cost several times what most Texas legislators make in a year.

And that’s just the beginning.

“Beto’s PAC has been covering air transport, lodging, and logistical support,” according to the Texas Tribune. And every dollar raised going forward will continue to fund the walkout.

Let that sink in: Democrat lawmakers are fleeing their responsibilities, and Beto is footing the bill.

Luxury Activism While Texans Suffer

At a time when Texans are battling property taxes, inflation, and recovering from natural disasters like floods and storms, Democrats ditched their constituents for lavish hotels in Illinois — all while virtue-signaling about “protecting democracy.”

“Texas House Democrats abandoned their duty and are holding flood relief and property tax cuts hostage,” said Gov. Greg Abbott, who has ordered state police to arrest the lawmakers and drag them back to the Capitol.

Under Texas House rules, lawmakers who flee the state to break quorum can be fined $500 a day, and outside contributions to help pay those fines may be considered illegal inducements — or even bribes under state law.

Gov. Abbott made it clear:

“Any other person who ‘offers, confers, or agrees to confer’ such contributions to the fleeing Democrat House members may be in violation of state bribery laws.”

In other words: Beto may have bought himself a front-row seat to an ethics investigation — or worse.
