Russia is racing to roll out a new AI-personalized, mRNA-based cancer vaccine—and according to the director of Moscow’s Gamaleya Center, treatment could begin within months.
Alexander Gintsburg, head of the state-run biomedical institute that developed the COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V, announced that his team has leveraged artificial intelligence and genomic analysis to create individualized cancer immunotherapies.
“This is a vaccine tailored to a specific person and to a specific type of tumor,” Gintsburg said. “Everything is personalized.”
The therapy uses a patient’s own genetic tumor data, scanned and processed via AI, to create a custom mRNA injection designed to target cancer cells without harming healthy tissue.
