When Cory Booker Backs Away, You Know It’s Bad
In a striking display of political restraint, even progressive firebrand Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) refused to endorse Zohran Mamdani, the radical socialist running for mayor of New York City. The move underscores the growing divide between the Democratic Party’s traditional liberal base and its increasingly aggressive far-left flank.
Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist, has proposed sweeping transformations to the city’s economy, including punitive property tax hikes targeting “richer and whiter neighborhoods”—a plan critics have called both racially divisive and economically suicidal.
Booker’s Word Salad Dodge
Last week, CNN’s Manu Raju pressed Booker during an interview: “Do you support Zohran Mamdani?” The senator’s response was a masterclass in avoidance, sidestepping the question with generic appeals to pragmatism and vague unity themes.
“This is not a left-right issue. It really isn’t,” Booker said. “It is an authoritarian, versus people who want pragmatic government.”
When Raju repeated the question—point blank—Booker retreated further:
“I have learned a long time ago, let New York politics be New York politics… You guys figure out your elections. I’m going to focus on mine.”
Translation: Absolutely not.
Too Radical for the Radicals
Mamdani’s platform reads like a manifesto from a Marxist think tank:
- Defund the NYPD, which he claims exists to “control black, brown, and poor New Yorkers.”
- Redistribute wealth from affluent areas through aggressive taxation.
- Dismantle capitalist structures in the name of racial justice.
Even among hardened progressives, his agenda is seen as a bridge too far—and Booker’s refusal to endorse sends a clear message: Democrats are waking up to the political cost of pandering to the socialist fringe.
The BDS Elephant in the Room
Mamdani is also known for his open support of the BDS movement—Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions against Israel. With the Trump administration recently conditioning FEMA disaster funds on rejecting BDS policies, the spotlight on Mamdani’s anti-Israel activism has grown hotter.
For centrist Democrats and Jewish leaders alike, Mamdani’s positions are toxic. Even New York’s Democratic establishment has kept its distance, unwilling to endorse a candidate whose policies could tank the city’s economy, alienate major donor blocs, and ignite racial division.
The Prophetic Implication: The Rise of Lawlessness
Mamdani’s calls to defund the police, punish prosperity, and racialize taxation mirror a deeper trend—the rise of institutional lawlessness, where leaders no longer uphold equal protection or shared values. By trying to tear down biblical concepts of justice, personal responsibility, and ordered liberty, Mamdani’s campaign is not just dangerous politically—it’s a spiritual red flag. When leaders seek to divide by race, erase law enforcement, and redistribute wealth by force, they are echoing Marxist and anti-God ideologies that have historically led to bloodshed, not justice.
Booker’s Silence Speaks Volumes
For a man who once hugged Corey Feldman and championed radical causes, Booker’s refusal to back Mamdani may be the loudest condemnation yet. As far-left candidates continue to push policies that alienate voters, we may be witnessing a pivot—even among Democrats—away from extremism and back toward political survival.
But for New Yorkers, the choice remains clear: embrace the madness of Mamdani’s socialist revolution, or reject it before the city spirals further into chaos.
