Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has issued a sharp rebuke of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, accusing her of signing a secretive and unauthorized deal with U.S. President Donald Trump that could destabilize Europe both economically and politically. The controversial agreement allegedly commits the European Union to massive American weapons purchases for Ukraine, $750 billion in U.S. energy imports, and $600 billion in European investments in the United States—all without the consent of EU member states.
Appearing on Hungary’s Kossuth Radio, Orbán condemned the agreement as “unfavorable, unfeasible, and illegal.” He warned that von der Leyen has overstepped her legal mandate by engaging in high-stakes economic and military negotiations that fall outside the competencies of her office.
“The President of the European Commission has made commitments to America that are not within her competence,” Orbán stated, referring to the agreement as a “very big problem, more serious than it may seem.”
Backroom Bargain: American Arms, Energy, and European Cash
According to Orbán, the deal contains a “secret clause” regarding the purchase and delivery of American weapons to Ukraine—paid for not by Washington, but by European taxpayers. He further revealed that the agreement includes:
- $750 billion in U.S. energy imports
- $600 billion in European investments into the American economy
- Increased import tariffs against Europe if targets are not met
“If I understand correctly… the Ukrainians will be supplied with American weapons, for which the Europeans will pay. No one asked me about this, and there is no European decision on this matter,” Orbán emphasized.
A Trump Trap? Orban Warns of a Coming Reckoning
The Hungarian leader expressed serious doubts about the EU’s ability—or willingness—to fulfill these massive commitments, predicting that President Trump, should he return to office in 2025, will come knocking.
“In a year, Trump will ask them, ‘Where are the $600 billion worth of investments? Where are the arms purchases? Where are the energy purchases that we agreed on?’ And then the US will again increase import duties on European goods. And we will lose again,” Orbán warned.
This foreboding echoes fears among nationalist and conservative leaders across Europe that von der Leyen is pushing the EU further into vassal-like subservience to U.S. global interests—particularly the military-industrial complex and energy cartels—while bypassing legal processes and democratic accountability.
An Unelected Bureaucrat or Globalist Pawn?
Orbán’s remarks point to deeper questions of sovereignty within the EU framework. The European Commission President is not elected by the European public, yet she is increasingly acting as a de facto head of state, striking multibillion-dollar transatlantic deals with military and economic consequences for all 27 EU nations.
This fits a broader pattern of unelected globalist elites dictating national policy from above—without consent of the governed. As Orbán has frequently warned, von der Leyen’s leadership is more aligned with American neoconservatives and multinational power blocs than with the European peoples she purports to represent.
“The European Commission has made commitments to the U.S. that the EU countries will not be able to fulfill,” Orbán stated plainly.
Prophetic Implications: Power Consolidation and the March to War
This shadowy agreement could accelerate Europe’s slide toward a U.S.-driven military confrontation with Russia via Ukraine, while consolidating power in the hands of a technocratic elite. The fact that the arms, energy, and investment stipulations were allegedly agreed upon without any debate in the European Parliament—or consent from national governments—raises chilling parallels to the prophetic warnings of centralized global governance and coerced compliance found in Revelation 13 and Daniel 7.
The economic terms—especially the staggering $600 billion “investment” in America—read more like tribute payments than mutually beneficial trade. The pattern echoes the biblical image of merchant kings growing rich off the “whore of Babylon” (Revelation 18), as Western nations prostitute themselves to global empires in exchange for fleeting security and influence.
Conclusion: Europe Held Hostage by Its Own Leaders
Orbán’s alarm is not mere rhetoric—it’s a call to recognize the growing democratic deficit and geopolitical peril baked into today’s EU leadership. With von der Leyen acting beyond her legal authority, the European project teeters on a knife’s edge between national sovereignty and bureaucratic tyranny.
Will EU nations push back before it’s too late—or will they continue to bankroll Washington’s war machine at the expense of their own future?
