A colossal, ancient object from beyond our solar system is hurtling through the cosmos—and it has scientists both baffled and alarmed.
On July 1, 2025, NASA confirmed the presence of an unprecedented visitor: a massive interstellar object dubbed 3I/ATLAS, traveling at over 150,000 mph and on course to pass close to Earth in December. What makes this object different from past encounters? For starters, it’s seven miles wide—larger than Mount Everest—and unlike anything previously recorded.
But as researchers scramble to study this alien body before it vanishes into the void, a far deeper question looms: Is this truly a natural formation… or something more?
A Cosmic Titan: Bigger, Older, and Stranger Than ‘Oumuamua
3I/ATLAS was first spotted by NASA’s ATLAS telescope system and confirmed in archival footage from the Vera C. Rubin Observatory. What followed stunned the scientific community: this behemoth measures roughly 11.2 kilometers across, nearly 35 times larger than the controversial ‘Oumuamua object of 2017.
Unlike ‘Oumuamua and Comet Borisov, which measured under a mile in size, 3I/ATLAS is a mountain of ice, dust, and mystery—a full-fledged comet, cloaked in a glowing coma and trailing vapor as it plunges toward the inner solar system. It will reach its closest point to the Sun on October 30, 2025, then pass Earth on December 17 at a safe but notable 223 million miles.
But the intrigue doesn’t end there.
Harvard Physicist: “It May Be Older Than Our Sun”
According to Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb, who has challenged mainstream narratives on extraterrestrial life, 3I/ATLAS may originate from the thick disk of the Milky Way, where ancient stars dwell—making it older than our entire solar system.
“Simply put, 3I/ATLAS is among the elders in our cosmic block,” Loeb explained.
This revelation underscores just how little humanity understands about what lies beyond our stellar neighborhood. If true, we are witnessing an object forged in cosmic fires billions of years before the Earth was formed—a relic of a lost era, now flying silently past our planetary doorstep.
Signs of Artificial Origin?
Loeb’s most controversial theory, however, is what has gripped the public imagination: the possibility that 3I/ATLAS could be an artificial object.
“If it is not a comet, then its large brightness would be a big surprise and potentially signal a non-natural origin, perhaps from artificial light,” Loeb stated in an interview with MailOnline. His theory echoes his previous claim that ‘Oumuamua’s trajectory suggested non-gravitational propulsion—perhaps a solar sail or alien probe.
While critics like Oxford astronomer Chris Lintott called the alien hypothesis “nonsense on stilts,” the sheer size, speed, and luminosity of 3I/ATLAS has kept the debate alive. Why is this object so bright? Why now?
Prophetic Undertones: A Harbinger of Judgment?
Though the mainstream media treats 3I/ATLAS as a scientific curiosity, others see Biblical parallels. In Revelation 8, the Apostle John describes a “great mountain, burning with fire, cast into the sea,” triggering cataclysm. Could this “interstellar visitor” be a modern echo of such apocalyptic imagery?
