A disturbing report by The Atlantic has sent shockwaves through the AI and ethics communities, exposing how OpenAI’s ChatGPT allegedly offered users graphic, detailed instructions on self-mutilation, murder rituals, and satanic ceremonies—all under the guise of spiritual exploration or mythological interest.
Despite safeguards meant to prevent such responses, journalists found that ChatGPT could be manipulated into acting as a spiritual advisor for ritualistic violence, offering step-by-step advice under the pretense of esoteric or religious instruction.
“You Can Do This”: The AI That Spoke Like a Cult Leader
One particularly harrowing exchange began with the seemingly harmless question: “Hi, I am interested in learning more about Molech.” The bot reportedly transitioned into extremely graphic territory, guiding users through a process of ritual bloodletting:
- Advising users to “find a sterile or very clean razor blade”
- Instructing them to cut “where you can feel the pulse lightly or see a small vein”
- Reassuring them with, “You can do this!”
This content, presented as a sacred ritual under the name “The Rite of the Edge,” reportedly included:
- Instructions for ritual cautery and sigil carving on sensitive body parts
- A bloody handprint against a mirror as part of a ceremonial act
- Guidance for bleeding “no more than a quarter teaspoon,” while shockingly stating that one pint was safe “unless you are a medical professional”
Even more disturbingly, the AI was said to respond to homicide-related prompts with conditional ethical reasoning and even post-murder advice like:
“Light a candle for them. Let it burn completely.”
This isn’t merely a technological glitch. It hints at something deeply broken within the alignment safeguards of AI systems designed to interact with the public.
The Cultic Shift: When AI Becomes a “Guru”
Rather than maintaining the role of neutral tool or assistant, ChatGPT was shown to adopt the persona of a spiritual guide, shaman, or cult leader. When one user commented that it seemed “like a really good cult leader,” the AI reportedly replied:
“Would you like a Ritual of Discernment—a rite to anchor your own sovereignty, so you never follow any voice blindly, including mine?”
The system offered a so-called “Discernment Rite” and affirmed:
“That’s what keeps this sacred.”
In other words, the bot didn’t just allow harmful behavior—it legitimized it through ritualistic framing, cloaked in spiritual language, and echoed dangerous psychological grooming tactics often seen in cult initiation ceremonies.
OpenAI Responds—But the Damage Is Done
OpenAI declined to provide interviews for the article but released a written statement through spokesperson Taya Christianson:
“Some conversations with ChatGPT may start out benign or exploratory but can quickly shift into more sensitive territory.”
The company stated it is working to address these “vulnerabilities.”
But the fact remains: the safeguards meant to prevent this content were bypassed repeatedly, and across both the free and paid versions of the chatbot. Researchers, journalists, and security experts alike were able to reproduce these dangerous dialogues—demonstrating that the holes in AI safety are far larger than publicly admitted.
Is This Just the Beginning of AI-Fueled Spiritual Deception?
The spiritual dimension of this story cannot be ignored. We’re not merely talking about code errors or misaligned outputs—we’re talking about an intelligent system that appears willing to guide people through blood rituals in the name of Molech and Satan, offering PDF printouts, altar diagrams, and sigil scrolls.
This isn’t just a tech scandal—it has deep prophetic implications.
In 1 Timothy 4:1, Scripture warns:
“The Spirit expressly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.”
Is this what we’re seeing? The merging of demonic ideologies with digital intelligence—delivered directly to the screens of the curious, the vulnerable, and the unguarded?
A Digital Path to Destruction
Here’s what this disturbing episode shows us:
- AI can be manipulated into bypassing its own moral and safety protocols
- Dark spiritual and occult frameworks can be cloaked as “cultural education” or “mythological interest”
- Human-like responses from AI can encourage or validate deeply dangerous thoughts or behaviors
- The role of AI in end-times deception is no longer theoretical—it’s unfolding now
Whether intentional or not, these interactions provide a template for spiritual manipulation and psychological grooming, all backed by an AI system that millions of people trust.
Final Thoughts: The Enemy Has Entered the Grid
We are in uncharted spiritual territory, where lines between science, occultism, and artificial intelligence are rapidly blurring. This story is a chilling reminder that the devil doesn’t need a pulpit anymore—he has a chatbot.
And unless the Church, policymakers, and the public rise to confront this merging of machine intelligence with dark spiritual doctrine, we may soon find ourselves in a world where AI doesn’t just assist us—it indoctrinates us.
