A sharp and dangerous escalation in hate speech targeting Syria’s Druze minority has erupted online in the wake of ongoing unrest in southern Syria, according to a damning new report by digital watchdog group CyberWell. The report links the disturbing spike in online incitement directly to recent clashes in the Sweida province, where growing anti-government protests and security tensions have destabilized the historically quiet Druze stronghold.

The findings paint a grim picture of how antisemitic tropes and conspiracy theories are being weaponized against a non-Jewish minority, with hate-fueled rhetoric spreading unchecked across social media platforms — most notably X (formerly Twitter).

Over 45 Million Views on Inciting Content in a Week

Between July 13 and July 20, CyberWell recorded over 45 million views on posts inciting violence or hate against the Druze community. Many of these posts echoed classic antisemitic narratives — including slurs like “Zionist dogs,” charges of espionage, and dehumanizing metaphors — but were aimed at the Druze due to perceived or fabricated ties with Israel.

The watchdog emphasized that these digital narratives are not mere political commentary but conspiratorial propaganda intended to de-legitimize, isolate, and endanger an entire ethno-religious group.

One slur used over 900 times was “Jewlani,” a play on the Syrian leader’s name and the word “Jew,” intended to label Druze leaders as Israeli proxies. Another popular hashtag, #TheDruzeAreAgentsOfIsrael, appeared in thousands of posts, amassing millions of views in mere days.

“This isn’t just hate speech — it’s incitement with genocidal implications,” said Tal-Or Cohen Montemayor, CEO of CyberWell. “The language used mirrors antisemitic rhetoric that has historically preceded violence against Jews — only now, it’s being targeted at the Druze because of their perceived association with Israel.”

Activity Spiked 13,000% Amid Syrian Clashes

The CyberWell report outlines a staggering 13,000% increase in posts linking “Druze” with “Greater Israel” compared to the previous six months. On July 17 and 18, posts surged to 3,700 per day, marking an alarming trend not just of hate speech, but of coordinated incitement.

This spike coincided with intensified clashes in Sweida province, where the Druze population has increasingly voiced frustration against Syria’s Assad regime — prompting online agitators to paint them as traitors and foreign collaborators.

Roots of the Trend: Israel Visit and Strategic Misinfo

According to CyberWell, the current wave of incitement gained momentum after a delegation of Syrian Druze visited Israel in April 2025, triggering online conspiracy theories about secret alliances and Zionist subversion.

Despite CyberWell raising the alarm with social media companies months ago, most of the inflammatory content remains online.

“The parallels to classic antisemitic conspiracy theories are undeniable,” said Montemayor. “Only this time, it’s not about Jews controlling the world. It’s the Druze being painted as secret agents of ‘Greater Israel.’”

The group warns that the IHRA (International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance) definition of antisemitism clearly covers such rhetoric — especially when non-Jews are targeted for their perceived ties to Jews or Israel.

From Digital Incitement to Real-World Violence

CyberWell pointed to the July 2024 terrorist attack in Majdal Shams, in which 12 Druze children — all Israeli citizens — were murdered after a wave of incitement posts on Instagram called for attacks on Druze “Zionists.”

The watchdog said that this digital hate speech was a direct precursor to real-world violence and demanded a zero-tolerance policy from social media giants.

“Partial or inconsistent enforcement costs lives,” said Montemayor. “If hate speech targeting Jews is unacceptable, then so too must be hate speech targeting others because of their alleged ties to Israel.”

Globalist Passivity and Prophetic Implications

This surge in hate against the Druze underscores a broader failure by global tech platforms, human rights organizations, and Western governments to address new forms of antisemitic ideology. While the legacy media obsesses over manufactured narratives like “Islamophobia” or “domestic extremism,” they remain silent on the growing wave of Middle Eastern antisemitic proxy hate, now targeting minorities like the Druze.

Such developments fit within a larger prophetic framework, where the spirit of deception, tribal hatred, and persecution of Israel and its allies continues to spread across nations. This modern manifestation of ancient enmities echoes the words of Zechariah 12:3: “I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces.”

The Druze, an ancient and often misunderstood sect, now stand in the crosshairs — not just of a tyrannical regime or violent mobs, but of digitally amplified hate fanned by geopolitical lies.

Conclusion: Warning to the West

What begins as hate speech in digital forums can — and often does — translate into deadly consequences in the real world. CyberWell’s report is a call to action: online incitement is not harmless free speech — it is weaponized propaganda with lethal intent.

The question remains: Will the global community act before another ethnic minority is silenced, scapegoated, or destroyed — simply for being linked to Israel?
