Saudi Arabia’s flagship mega-project NEOM is facing a major shake-up, with reports emerging that massive job cuts are on the table due to exploding costs and scaling back of one of its most controversial initiatives: “The Line”, a so-called futuristic smart city meant to house 1.5 million people in a linear, enclosed structure.
Now, in a stunning reversal, officials have quietly lowered the projected population target to just 300,000 by 2030, citing cost overruns, construction delays, and internal skepticism about the project’s feasibility.
“The ambition was always high,” said one insider to Bloomberg, “but reality is catching up fast. There simply isn’t enough time, money, or manpower to meet the original vision.”
The Line: A Dystopian Dream Deferred
Originally marketed as an eco-technological utopia, “The Line” promised no cars, no roads, no emissions, and complete AI governance — all confined within a 170-kilometer mirrored wall, imprisoning over a million residents in tightly controlled vertical living quarters.
Critics, however, saw it as a digital prison and an architectural embodiment of globalist control.
“They’re not building a city. They’re building a panopticon,” said dissident architect Dr. Elias Rami, who once consulted on NEOM before walking away. “Everything about it screams surveillance, control, and centralization.”
Now, with costs ballooning beyond the $500 billion mark, NEOM’s leadership is being forced to restructure operations. Job reductions are expected across departments, particularly among planners, designers, and foreign consultants.
Saudi Vision 2030 Faltering?
NEOM was the crown jewel of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030, a plan to wean the Kingdom off oil dependency by diversifying into tech, tourism, and innovation. But slumping oil revenues, inflation, and global uncertainty have pushed the Kingdom’s debt up significantly.
“The economic foundation of NEOM was always shaky,” said geopolitical analyst Samuel Deering. “They counted on endless energy revenues and investor enthusiasm, but both are fading fast. The dream is becoming a nightmare.”
Some investors are already pulling out quietly, while others are demanding project audits before further involvement.
Prophetic Implications: Babel Rebuilt?
Many Bible prophecy watchers have long viewed The Line and NEOM as symbolic of modern-day Babylon — a human attempt to build a godless, technocratic empire under one global system.
“This is the Tower of Babel 2.0,” says Bible teacher Amir Tsarfati. “They want to concentrate humanity into AI-run mega-cities, severed from nature and from God. It’s prophetic. And now it’s crumbling.”
Revelation 18:10 speaks of the fall of Babylon: “Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.”
NEOM’s apparent unraveling may be a warning shot to the global elite — you cannot build a new world order without divine consequences.
Globalist Fantasy Meets Financial Reality
With WEF-aligned goals of carbon neutrality, digital identity enforcement, and transhuman integration, The Line was heralded by globalist technocrats as a prototype city of the future.
But as the project falters under its own weight, many are seeing it for what it really was:
- A vanity project
- A digital cage
- A globalist wet dream turned fiscal disaster
“God will always frustrate the plans of those who seek to replace Him,” said Pastor Jack Hibbs. “NEOM was never about progress. It was about power.”
Conclusion: The Tower Cracks
With Saudi Arabia slashing its expectations for NEOM and The Line by over 80%, and with layoffs on the horizon, the question is no longer whether the mega-project will be completed — but whether it will survive at all.
As with all globalist schemes, when man tries to play god, the result is always the same: collapse, chaos, and judgment.
