In an apparent lesson from Covid, American Oligarch Bill Gates wants eyes on any potential future pandemic.

Among his proposals is for the WHO to initiate a worldwide surveillance team consisting of experts who can rapidly identify new health threats worldwide and immediately coordinate with global governments to prevent illnesses from evolving into pandemics CNBC reports.

Gates, who has called his proposed task force the “Global Epidemic Response and Mobilization” (GERM) initiative, told the Financial Times that the initiative would need significant financial investment from the WHO and its member states to establish an international team of experts, among them epidemiologists and virologists. His idea would also give them the tools they need to take the initiative in identifying and containing outbreaks.

In an interview with the Financial Times on Sunday, the former Microsoft CEO warned the Financial Times on Sunday, “We’re still at risk of this pandemic generating a variant that would be even more transmissive and even more fatal.”

“It’s not likely, I don’t want to be a voice of doom and gloom, but it’s way above a 5% risk that this pandemic, we haven’t even seen the worst of it.”

However, Covid-related deaths are on the decline. That is why the White House’s leading Covid czar Dr. Ashish Jha said last month that he is “not overly concerned right now” about BA.2. Gates noted that the virus could mutate, causing a more dangerous strain.
