President Joe Biden communicated with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky by phone on Sunday and the two “reaffirmed the commitment of the United States to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” according to a White House statement.
The White House, in a readout posted online that offered little in details, said that Biden told Zelensky that the United States “would respond swiftly and decisively, together with its Allies and partners, to any further Russian aggression against Ukraine.
“The two leaders agreed on the importance of continuing to pursue diplomacy and deterrence in response to Russia’s military build-up on Ukraine’s borders,” the readout concluded. The last time the two spoke was on Jan. 2.
It came a day after Biden spoke via phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin and said that a U.S. response to an invasion of Ukraine, which Russia is denying via official channels, would be “swift and severe,” according to a readout provided by the White House that also offered few details.
Biden was “clear with President Putin that while the United States remains prepared to engage in diplomacy, in full coordination with our allies and partners, we are equally prepared for other scenarios,” the White House said Saturday. In the call, which reportedly lasted an hour, Biden also told Putin that the United States and NATO “will respond decisively and impose swift and severe costs” if an invasion is carried out.
Over the weekend before his call with Biden, Zelensky told reporters that he wants proof after White House officials, including national security adviser Jake Sullivan, warned that Russia would invade Ukraine in the near future. At the same time, the United States and other Western countries have withdrawn their embassy staff and warned their citizens to leave Ukraine.
“There has been too much information about a full-scale war with Russia–even specific dates have been announced. We understand there are risks. If you have any additional information regarding the 100 percent guaranteed invasion of Ukraine by Russia on 16 February, please give it to us,” Zelensky told reporters on Saturday, adding that warnings about an imminent invasion are stoking “panic” in his country.
Despite Zelensky’s comment, Sullivan on Sunday morning told CNN that Russia could invade Ukraine “any day now,” while offering few details. He made similar remarks during a news conference in Washington.
“We cannot perfectly predict the day, but we have now been saying for some time that we are in the window, and an invasion could begin—a major military action could begin—by Russia in Ukraine any day now,” he said.
In comments to Russian media outlet Tass, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said allegations about an imminent invasion are “empty and unfounded” and are designed to escalate tensions. However, Peskov said Russia isn’t ruling out what he described as provocations aimed at justifying such allegations.
Russia has around 100,000 troops situated around Ukraine’s borders. In 2014, Moscow annexed the Crimean Peninsula and began funding separatist rebels in the Donbas region.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also accused U.S. government officials of colluding with mainstream news outlets to create hysteria. Zakharova said the United States could be attempting to provoke Russia.

Have you received Salvation from Jesus the Messiah? Time is running out. Jesus will return very soon. The signs of His return are everywhere in this crazy world we are living in. Please read below so that you can be saved. Jesus is the only way to Heaven. The Words below are directly from the Bible, so you can trust them.
For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6)
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (John 3:16-17)
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all )is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9-13)
“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. IF YOU KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. (John 15:9)
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)
For those of us who persevere and do what Jesus says to do, we have this to look forward to in eternity: And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
