Earlier today Secretary of Defense James Mattis briefed the country on a high level threat assessment discussion regarding North Korea’s recent hydrogen bomb test (someone’s helping them mightily as their capabilities are exploding) and related 5.5-6.3 earthquake. I love our military, but sadly those in these positions of influence don’t know the hour, don’t know the field and don’t know the enemy; yet they think they do.
Mattis talked about the overwhelming U.S. capability and assured us that there was a wide variety of options available. While these things are true, this is not like any other time.
Ephesians 6:12… our fight is not against flesh and blood.
Proverbs 16:18… Pride comes before destruction.
Lost in the halls of government is humility, prayer and seeking God’s Word and the Spirit for guidance, clarity and permission.
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.
1 Corinthians 10:12… Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall.
Sadly, most of my life I have been in the “yep just blow them up” camp, without thought of the impact and eternal consequence. Sadder still, my actions were without prayer, fasting and the leading of the Spirit.
Government derives it’s power from the people. The people are endowed by God. God has put eternity and morality in our hearts and it is the Church (the body of Christ) that stands up for truth. The government is simply endowed with the ability to enforce the people’s morality. Somehow we have abdicated all spiritual, moral and social authority to the government.
I’m not saying that an attack on North Korea might not be required. I am saying let God say if and when. Given the apparent lateness of the hour and the impending destruction, some humility and care is called for if ever there was a time.
This threat assessment ignores the prophetic reality of all of these thing (just the ones that came to mind): (Click to Site)
